When Jordan Smith got her tab after breakfast at Mary's Gourmet Diner in Winston-Salem, N.C., she was pleasantly surprised to find a 15 percent discount — for "praying in public."
Smith, on a business trip, tells HLN that she and her colleagues "prayed over our meal and the waitress came over at the end of the meal and said, 'Just so you know, we gave you a 15 percent discount for praying.' I've got noting witty to say on this one, GD. |

I remember a couple years ago when a restaurant was offering a discount if you brought in a church flyer.
I remember my jimmies being surprisingly unruffled then. Their restaurant, their rules. |

I tend to avoid places that offer discounts for bringing in a church flyer on Sundays. Not because I have the problem with the discount itself (I think a business should be able to set prices for any customer for any reason - including race / dress / gender / car you drove in / whatever).
It's because church crowds are shitty tippers and generally shitty customers, and only D list servers with no better opportunities are going to be working then. So in addition to getting the crappiest employees on the roster, I get to have them at their worst possible moments. No thanks. |

They certainly were at Kinkos. Little old church ladies getting hymnals copied were crappy. The one time I randomly rung a batch up for $6.66 made it all worth it, though. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

If they are gonna give a 15% discount for praying! then when some Muslim unrolls a prayer mat and faces Mecca they need to honor their 15% discount for everybody.

View Quote It's their business who they give the discount to. As an atheist in NC, from experience, I would stick to prayers that would please baptists. Basically, just talk about "jc" a lot, don't mention Mary and maybe say something bad about the pope. |

If a private business wants to do that, fine by me. It does not pick my pocket or rob me.

Its their business, they can do what they want, but I sure as hell wouldn't be patronizing their establishment. |

Imagine a country where each business could run its own way, not the governments's, and customers could pick out the ones that made the products or services in a fashion that suited them? What we would call that?
Oh, yeah. Freedom. That concept is so foreign compared to what we have now. |

We eat at this place about once a month. They have been doing this for years. I really hope this dose not turn in to the next media circus.

I waited tables for less than a year in college and I learned real quick that you get a table full of church folk or Canadians and you can bet you're not getting a tip. |
