I guess it shouldn't bother me, hell, we have our own wing at the white house we've been there so many times lately.

This may or may not have been posted already in here, this thread tends to move pretty quick on game days.

Yall see the A&M cadet blocking for the Mascot Dog? I thought it was pretty cool.

-edit- looks like gopher posted a link on page 46. I provided video and gif though, so no dupe imho

He did good.  Protected HER* (stupid announcer), didn't try to hit or get into it with the player.

The commandant said he's going to buy the kid's senior boots for his quick thinking...no small thing, since they're over $1600 these days.

It's very possible, but Bama does have two weeks to prepare.

Isn't it funny how Bama always seems to get their bi-weeks before huge games?

Last year they got one before they played @ A&M and at home to LSU.

This year they have one before they play @ Ole Miss and before they play @ LSU.

If you let Nick Saban pick when Bama got it's off weeks that's probably exactly how he'd pick it.

Take a look at 2 years ago.  For about 4 weeks in a row, they got SEC teams coming off a bye so you can forget that nonsense.

Well not last year, but this year...yeah, it will be 50-0 at halftime unless OU just gives UT a bunch of turnovers or something.

But I'm not sure what that has to do with SEC, unless you are talking about Tenn and they are SEC East and no one has put them in this conversation because it screws up the argument.

Breaking News:
AP is reporting that FSU quarterback Jameis Winston has decided to join the terrorist group Isis. The Heisman trophy winning QB spoke with reporters this afternoon and cited that "he gonna do it big den in Iraq". He was seen late this afternoon at the Orlando International airport, hands clasp full with crab legs on top of the Delta airlines ticket counter yelling, " Eff her right in the Burka!"

Seminole head coach Jimbo Fisher was seen at the FSU football practice shaking his head in disgust, gulping hand fulls of Tums.

ESPN is now sending 87 reporters and camera crews to Baghdad, to follow Winston on his newest misstepping adventure.

I'm sure they have some hummus recipes that include crabs, goats and sheep. I just hope Jameis doesn't mess up the evening prayers with his antics. Aloha crab bar!

It was actually 2010. They played at least five teams (if you don't count lsu) coming off bye weeks, but we know the rest is all a Saban conceived conspiracy.

As for fixing things they need to hold on to the ball for starters.

I hope your right but as an Aggie fan I don't know if we are quite there yet. We are VERY young and I believe we need another year on defense. Our offense can play with anyone right now.
Next year or the year after we are going to be very, very good on both sides of the ball.
If we can stop or minimize the Arkansas running game this week then go to Mississippi State and win the following week the sky is possibly the limit this year. Time will tell.

Alabama played six of its SEC opponents the week following the opponents' bye week. These SEC teams who scheduled a bye week before facing the Crimson Tide included South Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn. Georgia State also had a bye week prior to playing Alabama, for a total of seven consecutive opponents playing Alabama the week following their bye.

One of the things I still remember from my SAT prep courses: If any one part of a statement is false, then the whole statement is false.

Besides, what may or may not have happened back in 2010 isn't what I'm talking about.  I'm talking about how Nick Saban couldn't have picked more advantageous bye weeks for Bama this season and last season.

Not only is that completely false, but two years ago Alabama didn't even have two weeks in a row against an SEC team coming off a bye, much less 4 weeks in a row.

Okay, 2010.

So little talk about the Nebraska And Miami game. That was one of the chippiest shit talking games at memorial stadium. Also the only time I've seen a visiting team booed off the field at the end of the game.
Yup, the fans always clap for the visiting team regardless.
There was no class in UM last night.

Your guy went after our QB. Are you going to deny it?

Well... For most of my "arfcom life," I didnt have a gators avatar. I started with mine, during our worst season in decades, and kept it too.

However, I was actually participating in the college ball threads before the gators made a run at the championships...

Well, I learned something new today.

National Brewing Company introduced Colt 45 in 1963. Previously, the only major national brand of malt liquor was Country Club. The label was designed with a kicking horse and horseshoe, a subtle reference to its "extra kick" compared to competing brands.

Listed on the Pabst website as a "Fun Fact", Colt 45 was named after running back #45 Jerry Hill of the 1963 Baltimore Colts and not the pistol or the revolver.

Jerry Hill (born October 12, 1939 in Torrington, Wyoming) is a former professional American football running back for the National Football League's Baltimore Colts. He is a native of Lingle, Wyoming.  Hill played his collegiate football for Wyoming Cowboys football. He was an All-Skyline Conference running back in 1959 and 1960, and was part of the 1958 Wyoming Cowboys football team that won the Sun Bowl. Jerry Hill was selected as Wyoming Football's player of the 20th Century in 1992.  He finished his collegiate career with 1,374 rushing yards on 288 carries. He was named as an Honorable Mention All-American in 1959 and 1960.

All Skyline Conference Running Back, 1959
All Skyline Conference Running Back, 1960
Inducted into Wyoming Cowboys Hall of Fame, October 29, 1993.[2]
Member of 1958 Sun Bowl Champions
   Member of 1968 NFL Champions
Member of Super Bowl V Champions
Wyoming Football Player of the 20th Century
Namesake of the Colt 45 malt liquor

While Hill rushed for 2,668 yards from his fullback position for the Colt, his primary roles were blocking and protecting NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Johnny Unitas.

“I was (his) bodyguard,” Hill told Mike Klingaman in a story in the Baltimore Sun.

In hindsight, pass protection “was probably the only reason I made the club,” Hill told Klingaman.

“My rookie year, (defensive end) Gino Marchetti was beating me up in camp. Well, nobody could block Gino. But he went to (coach) Weeb Ewbank and said, ‘This guy is going to help (Unitas).’”

That wasn’t a bad football career for a farm boy who played 6-man football as a freshman and sophomore in high school as well as Class B 8-man. He also excelled in basketball and track and field.

Are you talking about when your linemen were loving him tenderly while holding him down, or when he blocked one of your defenders?

I'm talking about when your #4 went after Kaaya

Was that "CLASSY"?

Did you expect that our guys were just going to let that slide?

Would you expect your guys to?

Meh...he was running towards the guy that intercepted his pass and was in the immediate area. If he was across the field, then yeah it would be bad.  But if you are running towards the action and could possibly be involved in the play, it is good to go.
*cannot tell when the whistle was blown.

It was either 2010 or 2011.

And they've taken a bye before the LSU game for several years now.

Eta:  It wasn't 4 weeks in a row, but most of the big SEC games that year had their opponents coming off a bye.

Looks like an Auburn homer picked the bye weeks that year.

Just like it looks like an Alabama homer picked the bye weeks this year and last (at least for Bama).

They were the defending National Champions that season.  Why wouldn't a team want to give themselves an extra week to prepare for the foretasted best team on their schedule?

ETA- especially when it is a conference game
If I was scheduling for AU I'd want my bye before Alabama or UGA
If I was scheduling for LSU I'd want my bye before Alabama
If I was scheduling for Ole Miss I'd want my bye before LSU, MSU, or Alabama
If I was scheduling for MSU I'd want my bye before Ole Miss or Alabama
If I was scheduling for USCe I'd want my bye before UGA, FL, or Alabama (dropping order or precedence there because it is an out of division game)
If I was scheduling for Tennessee I'd want my bye before UGA, FL, USCe, or Alabama (Alabama last of those for the reason stated above)

I've been a fan of college football and teams like Texas, Bama, ND, Michigan, OSU and even OU occasionally for my whole life and I had no idea that teams make their own conference schedule. Is that how it is done? I don't see how.

It's not.

Looking at the SEC bye weeks this season, Ole Miss has their bye weeks before Memphis and Arkansas.  Considering the gauntlet that is the SEC West, I promise you they didn't pick those weeks.

Do you think Mike Slive had it out for Alabama that season?

It looks like KSU and ISU had to work something out between themselves for their Big12 game to accommodate ESPN wanting to broadcast the KSU/AU game Link

A friend of a friend of mine who is an AD at a D1A school (not in the Power 5) spent about a month this past winter trying to get his school's football schedule put in place for this season.  Maybe his conference does the scheduling of their conference games or not, I don't know.

Wow, when it's right there in front of you with the visuals it undeniable.   Yup, that's deliberate.

Well, I guess Bama should take that as a compliment.
