I already told Harkin I'm backing whomever runs against him with my vote and $$. Don't think he will be defeated due to the union support but all I can do is try.

DICK Durbin isn't going anywhere Doesn't matter what he supports. The Chitcago liberal machine isn't going to let him lose.
|
|
I don't remember what thread I saw it in but I'm pretty sure Lamar Smith said he was head of the Judicial committee and wouldn't even let an AWB make it out of the committee
Edit: disregard...I misread the list and the title cause I'm falling asleep here. |

While it would be nice to get rid of Durbin, you are probably correct that he is not in a weak position. Somebody like Franken though... He is already getting hammered from the left for not being more extreme. He barely squeaked out his last election and may be facing a challenger at the primary level as well. If he votes for more gun control, he is exactly the type of politician we can make an example of. |

Franken came out for AWB, magazine bans, etc. but did a low-key press release of support just to liberal outlets. He knows he is weak.

Michigan - Carl Levin (D) - SUPPORTS GUN CONTROL
This guy is a douche bag's douche bag & he'll get re-elected because there are no republicans with a spine in Michigan to run against him. |
|
Thanks!
I was thinking about this yesterday after Obama spoke. We need to focus our resources now on the House. Donate to pro gun candidates! |
|
I'll use my first post here to say this: Begich (Alaska) is starting to wobble towards the abyss. I think the "machine" is starting to lean on him. He knows it will be political suicide if he toes the Dem's line, but he doesn't have the spine to stand up to them. At this point he doesn't know whether to shit or go blind.
Time to turn up the heat on him. |
|
Fuck yeah! I let Mark Prior know I'd do my best to vote him out if he voted for any form of gun control.

Harkin is tough but he's getting old. Watch some of his recent appearances. He's not as sharp as he used to be. Problem is there no obvious Republican to run against him. |

Expect him to give the typical "I'm a hunter & sportsman, so I support the 2A - but no one needs 30 boolits to hunt deer with, etc." Never trust a "Pro-gun" D in this day & age. Mark has been a fucking rubber stamp for his party on almost every issue... |

I emailed Cornyn(TX) yesterday. Hopefully I can get a more concrete answer. Also emailed Cruz(TX) but he is only recently elected and looks to be a strong 2A supporter.

"Virginia - Mark Warner (D) - Supported increased NICS checks in recent response letter "
Also is FOR a new AWB and limiting magazine capacities. |

Kay Hagan, D-NC ... non-comital
She will march hand in hand (goose-step) with what the Democratic Party tells her. If from NC, keep the heat on her!!! |

Sessions is my senator, and he's been pretty solid on 2nd amendment issues. Unfortunately, though, he's been pretty solid following the establishment GOP party line, too. I'd like to see him go, and it's unlikely his successor would be anti-gun.

Mississippi - Thad Cochran (R) - NRA A-rated. No current statement found.
Thad Cochran has a LONG history in MS. He may be a pork-project guy, but he has been solid on the 2nd Amendment. No position is on record but he has proven that he is an ally for decades: http://www.cochran.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news-releases?ID=257e5355-4d74-482f-bcc3-f2dc481f4434 WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) are among 51 Senators who today indicated they will vote against ratifying a United Nations Arms Trade Treaty if it does not protect the Second Amendment rights of Americans.

Well-known anti-gun Senator Susan Collins says she may not support Feinstein's AWB, despite having supported every previous version of this legislation? You guys in Maine must be giving her an earful

Carl Levin is entrenched. No chance of him leaving the Senate until he decides to leave, or dies of old age.

Schatz (HI) is a cosponsor of S. 150, as is Rockefeller.
Chambliss is retiring. |

Maybe we in MN will get lucky and Frankenstein will choke on a dirty diaper...

I am not sure what value the list is. Everybody in the whole US government supports the 2A. The problem is their interpretation of what it entails...
"hunting by the Fudds shall not be infringed...". |

Hawaii - Brian Schatz (D)..................... Lt Governor who took job after Inouye
This guy will not get re-elected but there is another who is just as bad waitting. |

My canned letter received from Mark Begich;
January 17, 2013 Dear Mr. AK-Bandit: Thank you for contacting me about the tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. I was shocked by this horrifying event, and my heart goes out to the victims, families and the Sandy Hook community as they face this tragedy. This was a terrible, senseless crime against some of the most vulnerable. In the aftermath of this awful crime, we must be vigilant about addressing future threats to public safety. There is no simple solution, but I do not believe more restrictive gun laws will prevent criminals from committing acts of violence. I have always been and continue to be a strong defender of Second Amendment rights for law-abiding citizens. I believe this tragedy, and the shooting earlier this year in Aurora, Colorado, illustrate a pressing need to improve mental health services in this country. The Sandy Hook shooter was in early adulthood, a time when mental illnesses frequently develop. I have introduced a bill, S. 3325, the Mental Health First Aid Higher Education Act of 2012, to improve mental health services on college campuses. This legislation would establish a program to provide training to faculty members, dormitory resident advisors, and other members of the college community to recognize the signs of mental illness and safely address crisis situations. We must do more to keep our communities and families safe, and legislation like this is an important step in the right direction. I will continue working with my colleagues in the Senate to promote mental health services and prevent violence. Thank you again for contacting me about this tragedy. Please continue to be in touch with your thoughts and concerns. Sincerely, Mark Begich U.S. Senator |

John Cornyn gave me a really vague answer hat was almost pro gun control so I sent him a couple really pisssed off letters. Looks like it worked (not me but all of us together)

Sen. Tom Harkin has announced he is retiring (http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2013/02/02/harry-reid-and-the-crumbling-democratic-caucus/). He was solidly anti-gun so good chance to replace him with someone better in 2014.

Delete Kerry from the list.
His Three Purple Hearts (from getting Swift Boated) just got him the post of United States Secretary of State. The Question NOW before us is just what kind of Loser is going to replace him. Good Luck over there. |

I received this from Lamar Alexander:
Dear rightist, Thanks very much and letting me know what’s on your mind regarding the right to bear arms. I’m a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights. Congress should not pass laws that take away these rights from law abiding citizens and leave criminals to terrorize the streets. Good citizens don’t abuse guns – criminals do. I will continue to support legislative efforts to protect the Second Amendment rights of law abiding Americans, and oppose efforts to overturn the Second Amendment. In two recent cases, the U.S. Supreme Court clearly held that the Second Amendment protects the right of individual Americans to keep and bear arms. In the 2008 case, D.C. v. Heller, the Supreme Court held that D.C.’s restrictive gun laws violated the constitutional rights of Americans. Two years later, in McDonald v. Chicago, the court struck down the city of Chicago’s handgun ban and held that, like the federal government, state and local governments must respect Second Amendment rights. I joined legal briefs in both cases in defense of this constitutional right and was pleased with the Supreme Court’s decisions. I am grateful you took the time to let me know where you stand. I’ll be sure to keep your comments in mind as Second Amendment rights are discussed and debated in Washington and in Tennessee. Sincerely, Lamar Unfortunately an article came out last week that Lamar votes with Obama more than any other Senator from the south WTF! http://www.wbir.com/news/article/251519/2/Sen-Lamar-Alexander-often-votes-with-Obama-study-shows |

I wouldn't trust Mary Landrieu on a 2nd Amendment issue as far as I could throw that little piglet hog.
She thinks of herself as the next Hitlery. And so do I. I hope a good conservative runs against her in 2014. LC |

Your description of Michigan's Senator Levin is WAY too nice.
He is a gun grabbing POS libtard. There has NEVER been an anti-gun statute he doesn't approve of. He is FOR civilian disarmament. |

I deleted the letter already but it appears he is in the same boat as Cruz who I also received a kick-ass letter from |
