So the aurora was supposed to be incredible this weekend due to the solar flare and CME, so I went out and rented a Nikon 14-24 2.8f.  Fantastic lens, it's what I used on the aircraft photos a month back.  Clouds rolled in, but fuck it I'm still getting some use out of the lens.

Apparently the focus is very specific and I was off just a hair.  I still like my shots either way.  Just would be better in focus.

through the telescope, Orion has the shape you see in the bottom pic, but it is monochrome and if you look directly at it you can barely see it; you have see from the side of your eye by moving it around. Andromeda is the same. too faint to see any color, but you can see it even with good binoculars.

Yes it is, this is the good guys Charlotte, every entry gets a pass good for two laps of the track under the lights. You are supposed to keep it at 55 but I was able to almost double it..

Found it while cleaning out some old stuff...  not sure what to do with it or that it would have any value to anyone anymore.

Planning on making a stub filter? If you actually want any, let me know. I have a bunch in my kit, including some genuine Amphenol, new in the package.

If I were to believe in a supreme being, it would be because of something like this.

ETA: my submission.  I screwed around in lightroom a bit and it's not realistic but I like the way it turned out.  might be just me

I just had the best results ever with the R3 Monobath by New55. 81 degrees, pre-warmed the steel tank, 10 minutes, a good rinse and 4 minutes in Ilford rapid fixer at 1:1 ratio. a quick Photoflo rinse and hung up to dry.Kodak Tri-X 120 ISO 400 and Sekonic L208 - I will write down the settings next time.

This selfie was down at 1/10 of a sec, a little grainy,

Even this double exposer looks cool - I have to remember to wind the film! LOL I'm so used to power winder/DSLR I forget to wind.

God I love that noise

Thanks

Honestly, the 1.8f 50mm lens made it easy.  Wide open (it did give some color fringing) 1/2000sec, auto iso (it chose 1600 I think) then burst mode (7fps)
