ar-jedi, I'm genuinely surprised you don't have a spare thermocouple at home...

I've been at work since Sunday afternoon, held for storm. FD in NYC.
Storm had much less effect than predicted.
And while some may complain that the city overreacted with subway and street closures, it's made life much easier. Many many less cars broken down on roadways. A lot fewer car accident responses. Typically, with this much accumulation, we have to clear between 15-20 cars stuck blocking our response path and dig out 4-5 ambulances from snow banks. This time zero and zero.  Alarm rate during and post storm usually 150-200/hr, today is 90/hr.

all good news.

Being a member of the public safety crowd it is nice when people keep unnecessary travel limited when conditions warrant it.  If some one has to go out because of work or other pressing task then that's understandable, but to just go for a joy ride to go out to dinner or the movies during a storm is just ridicules IMO.

if i had one of those i would do the whole neighborbood, for free.
i would get a satellite radio, crank it up, and play GnR "welcome to the jungle".
just because i could.

everything would be AWESOME.

until one of the neighbors was missing a cat and a mailbox.

Add a heated enclosed cab and a 1500 stereo with subwoofers blasting the Ride of the Valkyries and I am good to go.

All this hype and hysteria over some snow.

Do I remember correctly that just a few months ago the Buffalo area got some 10 feet of snow in just a few days.?

Only real thing that came out of it was they moved a football game because the stadium could not be shoveled out in time.

guys,

i had a little mishap with my orange tractor, but it's all good now.

fast forward to 2m:45s if you want to cut to the chase.

ps
text under video translated:
"The border patrol's Super Puma lift tractor Puotilanlahdesta on March 29, 2012. In Helsinki, the exercise of the Agency's tractor sank when making a trip to the ice skating rink gave out below it in February 2012."

I'd hate to have to pay the tow bill on that one.  And those divers are really something, talk about shitty conditions.

But that's the price you pay for FREEDOM from snow and ice.  Some times your orange tractor is going to sink on the way to the skating rink.

We're starting to get freezing rain and ice right now.  Good thing we're not down South where they have that super slick killer ice.

Walked to work 3 miles during the blizzard of 78 for triple time.  Good times.

East coast is totally pussified now.

Just the media and the libtard hipster punks are pussifide. It's just another snowy day for the real north eastern folks
