So WTF... They are going to give them away? Cool where do I get in line to get my free one? LOL Just kidding. But if they are giving some away does this mean that they are near a production model? Just like many of you I have been waiting in anticipation of the release of this weapons system... Just hop that they can keep the price point with in reason. I got to handle the FN SCAR last week and it was nice... But 3 to 4K per unit is way too much... Just can't wait...

I have an FN SCAR. Nice rifle, but I wish it didn't have the reciprocating charging handle. The Emags fit well into it.
I'm waiting to get an ACR. Perhaps Magpul will start manufacturing the 7.62 Massoud soon. That'd be another one for the collection! . Seems like now that I have something in FDE, I kinda like it more than black, I guess because it's different from the standard. Also, I like these new type/style rifle designs like the SCAR and ACR with the gas piston, free float barrel and rails. It's a breath of fresh air from the usual AR's design-similar to everyone having the same type of car, just with different accessories. Makes you want to break the mold from the crowd and get something that not everybody else has. The SIG is ok, but it seems a little bit heavier. |

Yep, for sure, Cara's a hottie allright! Nice ACR, too! So, is that the color and rail system/rifle configuration that's going to be the standard civilian ACR release now or just one of the possible variations? Will we be able to chose FDE or Black, quad railed or other, collapsible or fixed stock? Any more pics? email sent. |

Do we have an ETA yet? If one was already given away, shouldn't be too much longer.

REMINGTON PURCHASES AAC An industry icon’s new venture in suppressor technology. By Tom Beckstrand Remington announced today that they have purchased the assets of Advanced Armament Corporation, an industry leader in suppressor manufacturing. The AAC acquisition appears to be part of Remington¹s broader strategic goal of returning American military weapons production to the American industrial base. For the first time in years, Remington has introduced new products in the sniper rifle space with the Modular Sniper Rifle (MSR) and the carbine/sub-compact weapon space with the Adaptive Combat Rifle (ACR) to compete for emerging US government special operations and conventional force requirements. As it currently stands, the majority of small arms produced for the American military come from companies headquartered overseas. Remington’s decision to purchase AAC stems from recognition that future military weapons selections will almost unilaterally require sound and/or signature reduction. Our military has been at war for over 8 years now and experience shows that there are significant tactical advantages associated with suppressor use; hence the military’s interest in adopting this new requirement. The Advanced Armament Corporation is a small business devoted to suppressor, or ’silencer’, development and production. AAC is headquartered in Georgia and has recently experienced substantial growth from the military¹s interest in and purchase of suppressors including its subcontractor role as the provider of silencers and flash hiders for the SOF Combat Assault Rifle (SCAR) program. Civilian sales are also up as civilians become increasingly aware that suppressor ownership is legal in 34 states. AAC is one of the largest suppressor manufacturers in the United States. However, few suppressor companies are positioned to provide suppressors in the quantities required by existing and future military contracts while still being able to meet growing civilian demands. The merger of Remington with AAC will enable AAC to take advantage of Remington¹s production capabilities as well as benefit from the additional R&D capabilities that Remington has to offer. While Remington purchased AAC¹s assets and intellectual property, initial indications are that they have no intention of replacing AAC’s executive staff with one of their own and that they are instead intent on expanding on AAC’s current footprint. AAC will report to Remington’s Military Products Division, but the leadership at AAC, including former owner Kevin Brittingham, will remain in place and continue to function as they have in the past. |

The truth is those who fell in love with the original Masada back in 2007 (like me) just want to get their hands on one, but at the same time I consider buying firearms an investment and would like the ACR to be as reliable and adaptive as we all expect it to be before it hits the market(my hands). We have already waited a long time, and at this point I'm willing to wait as long as possible for this rifle. I personally don't care if it says Bushmaster or Remington on it's side, as long as it still has its original Magpul Masada DNA running through it's veins, and those who want this rifle for the reasons they want it in the first place probably feel similar. In this world there are haters for everything, and there are people who are always gonna hate on the ACR. Whether is be the charging handle location, it's decided producer, polymer parts, caliber, or any other features, people have found a way to hate this rifle. I think magpul and partners have done a wonderful job of incorporating many available concepts as well as innovating many of their own into this gun. Can't wait to see what the future brings us.
I do have one question about the latest generation of the ACR, anyone know why they got rid of the integrated folding front sight and went with a mounted front sight on the remington ACR? It's a small change that I noticed and was wondering if anyone knew why, |

I did some quick searching on google and found that Dick Swans company won a settlement against troy industries due to theft of a free floating rail design but I don't understand why Magpul would be affected. Whether itll be on the gun from the start, or as an aftermarket part i dont know. Finally i would expect the same would be with the stock. but Remington still shows the Folder/adjustable stock, and the pic on Bushy website shows the same stock, so i would hope/expect it to be available with the gun from the start, or again as a aftermarket. |

Magpul, I don't think anyone has said thank you for this particular little item yet, so I'll insert it here. Thank you for putting a QD cup at the front of the rail. No, seriously... thank you guys.. Where are the "vaporware" bitches now? Is it available to the public at large for purchase? |
|
Quoted:
read the first 15 pages!!! I have been following this thread. I thought maybe something had changed, and the ACR was no longer vaporware? |

I think the official word is currently the first half of next year. Given the time frames involved, I'd guess we're due an announcement at either SHOT Show 2010 or (maybe) next year's NRA gathering. Obviously, that's open to change if any problems in the design are uncovered.
In the meantime, IIRC, there are two in private ownership, due to a raffle and auction by AAC earlier this fall. |

Comparing Remington who doesn't even rank in the Fortune 1000 to Ford (which ranks 7th) is laughable. But as for your automotive comparison there are plenty of concept cars that never make it to production. Regardless of who has their hands on the ACR there remains a shadow (not a lot mind you but a little) of a doubt as to when it will be sold to public at large. Until the ACR is in mass production/distribution it is vaporware as far as Joe shooter is concerned. I have high hopes for the ACR and am hardly part of the Magpul/Remington bashing crew. Just calling a spade a spade. |

I'm guessing that when it goes into full production and they're posted in Shotgun news and we see them used in the EE, you'll still be there complaining that not enough units have shipped and there aren't enough calibers like 280 Ackley Improved, and they're not available in metal flake purple and on and on and on . . .
