She's a shooter, so not unfamiliar. Taking her to the range to shoot ARs Friday if the weather holds out, but might go to PSA, since she does like the LCP and they have good deals right now. Not 100% sure yet. View Quote I got the LC9 from Psa a couple of weeks ago. Only been able to put 200 rds through it but it has eaten wilds, fiochi, and a couple boxes of my hand loaded hollow points with no issues. |

PAV I went from a P3AT to a shield and never looked back. and this was after carrying the P3AT for several years Daily carry front pocket in a custom thin leather holster. 5'6" and 150lbs. never had an issue with it. View Quote I know we've had our roundabouts at times, but I know you're a good guy and sincere. Your recommendation is greatly appreciated. She shoots, but she's not a gun girl in the sense that she is intimately familiar with a lot of guns and how they shoot. My thing is just trying to get her to open her mind to something that might fit her better than what she is looking at. The LCP might be the thing for her, but I do know that ammo was so hard to come by for a while and is expensive, plus, having owned the Kel Tec, it's a bit snappy, not something you might practice a lot with. And, while I shoot thousands of rounds a year, she doesn't, so doing so under stress when that gun might be needed is going to be tougher than if she had something a little larger. I think she'd get more range time and practice with something like a Shield, both due to comfort and cost of ammo, plus availability of good SD ammo is huge. Compare that to the .380 where it's basically FMJ or an XTP loading, and scarce. In the end, it's her decision, and I suppose her husband may hold some sway in that, but I hope not too much, as a SD gun is personal. |

Kahr CM9. Small and easy to shoot well. The recoil is soft for a small 9mm.

Do you have a range that rents guns? View Quote Yeah,. but I also have friends with pretty much anything and everything as well. Probably hit the range, but want to narrow it down before we get there. Makes it easier. |

My next slim 9mm for carry is going to be either a LC9S Pro or a Shield in 9mm. Frankly, up until the LC9S Pro version, it was going to be a Shield, but the 9S Pro I tried out in the gun shop has a much improved trigger and gets rid of a bunch of the CA/lawyer safeties. I wouldn't touch the old LC9, but the 9S Pro is worth a look.

Why give up half your ammo just for a quarter inch thinner handle?

fucking 380 belongs in the most fetid god damn maggot riddled trash heap available
seriously its 2015, there are tons, TONS of tiny 9mms to choose from - and yet people still carry, and worse recommend, that worthless anemic pissant dogshit cartridge |

I have both the PPS and Sig 938. Like them both but find that I usually go with the sig.
|
|
Try a Sig P225 or P6 if you can find one. Single stack but still enough gun to soak up the recoil.
There is no way around it, the smaller you go, the more lively it's going to be in the hands when fired. I have a Kahr PM9 and while small, slender and light, I couldn't imagine a small framed woman enjoying the recoil. |

Kahr Arms is the answer to your question.
Do the break in though. If firing 200 rounds is too much send it to me and the ammo. I'll break it in free of charge. |

I personally hate the idea of giving novice shooters these little mouse guns. They are not easy to shoot well.
someone interested in a first carry piece should try several handguns which are capable of being concealed see what they shoot well and are comfortable with and then spend a lot of time deciding on a holster that will allow them to comfortably carry that gun all the time. It is possible to conceal a remarkably large pistol. i was carrying around my mp9pro for quite some time full size double stack with a 5 1/2" barrel. Only reason i switched to something smaller was that it kept ripping holes in the ass of my pants. my gf needs a gun, I'm probably going to pick up a pair of mp9cs one for each of us. |

This is for a woman?
Is she actually going to carry it on her body, or is this going to be put in a purse? If it's going in a purse, there is no advantage to single stack. Glock 26 or M&P Compact. Very few women are willing to actually carry on their body. |
|
My best friend carries a Diamond back in 9mm, it is just a little larger than my LCP, but it is snappy to shoot.

She carries a larger gun but wants something smaller that she can conceal in tight clothing or summer type stuff. She is a shooter, not a complete novice. |

According to another thread I just read, have your buddy on overwatch lend his pistol to her since he's on a rooftop a mile away.
