The last time we traveled much was the 8 month period between our last Akita's passing and the current one coming home from the breeder. This time we're gonna travel our asses off even more. After that, we'll likely get another Shiba Inu (we used to have one of those too). My daughter was in Japan for the month of April last year and sent us pics of Hachiko's statue. He was sort of the Akita national dog "hero" of Japan a hundred years ago and is still revered to this day. I think my daughter is going back again next month. Beautiful place. Would love to go, but I'm not spending a full day locked in a tin can. A flight to Maui was as much as I could muster, and that was 15 years ago. |

Our kid is going to school in Kofu in Yaminashi. We were able to see Fuji from the Sakaori winery on the hill.. Also saw it from the Shinkansen going to Osaka.

When we flew out of Narita last October, we ended up getting to the airport about 3hrs before the flight. The upside to that was, this was Customs and Immigration. Nobody there. Attached File

Looks like a TA22 and a Z30 in the rear! I had a 73 240Z and my friend had a 76 Celica liftback. Miss the period when both could be had for cheap.... |

Incredible Pics, sir!
Any idea what a house in that little village would cost? Would be an awesome place to disappear. |

View Quote My son went to Yamagashi a smaller tourist town near Mt Fuji and there was a house with an actual yard with a view of Fuji. Maybe 1300 sq ft for $130k. That is high. Some houses are very cheap and I bet one around Gifu is half that. Houses depreciate in japan. The land holds the value. I bet your average renovation skilled American could do amazing stuff here. |

View Quote You would most probably be the only foreigner who ever lived there. Everybody in the whole county would know you are "that foreigner" and where you live. I'm not sure that qualifies as "disappearing". |
