I had pooch that had it about 20 years ago.  It required routine shots.  But once she started getting those shots she bounced back.   It's been so long that I forget the frequency and the name of the drug.  But I do recall her getting pretty much back to normal.  That being said, my info is kind of dated so the treatment protocol may have changed.

Just saw this on my Vet Med source:

Addison's Disease in Dogs

We've always had Beagles for the past 40 years. Our VET is top-notch; been with him all these years. We've had a dog or two with Addisons. Out Vet prescribes meds and he's decent enough to allow us to fill the script online to save a few bucks.

ValleyVet.com has been pretty decent with prices on K9 meds.

Hope this helps.

Lost a dog with it a few years ago.  He was diagnosed about age 8 and made it 4 more years or so.  At the end he lost a bunch of weight and wouldn't eat.  He was a good boy.  Meds were about $80/month and seemed to help.  Good luck with your buddy.

ETA: damn it my dog had Cushings disease, not Addisons.  Sorry, I'm an idiot.  Regardless, good luck with your pup..
