To me, the fun is about doing it on the cheap.

My build, even if I payed for the flat spot kit, cost less than $300.

$50 parts kit
$5 for the upper but I did get a blem so add ~$50 to this if you have to buy one.
$100 for a barrel I got off EE and actually used on a different rifle anyway.
$70 in other random parts
Shit I had laying around.
Few bucks in other stuffs.

Oh, I've built cheap rifles. I'm in the "I hope I can pay my electric bill this month" camp right now though

I kinda want to try and box in a right side charging upper with steel to make it look like a full steel ar that I can rust. I will probably wait to start a thread until I get the parts assembled otherwise It will drag out way to long. My other thought was to make a borderlands looking rifle

Anyone have a Right side charging upper laying around for cheap

Cut your own from a slickslide.  Or make an upper from 1" steel pipe.

Holy smokes.  You did that from scratch.  Mad props.  How much does it weigh?

Thanks. It's made from 0.1" 4130, so it weighs a lot, compared to an aluminum receiver. I don't have a weight on it, but I'll weigh it tonight after work.

That reminds me that I've got to mail my barrel back to Rhineland. He warned me that the small shanks are sometimes difficult. Turns out that my receiver is one of those difficult ones. He's gonna turn the threads a little and hopefully that solves the problem.

LOL, Your End of World is the "GET OFF MY LAWN" set up.  I dig it!

Where are those hammers from?  Tell us about this mystery shotgun.
View Quote
No idea... probably from a capgun as far as I know, I remember years ago my dad started to build hammers from steel for it but he put them in a cabinet somewhere and they got lost between 2 moves.

For the other guy who wasn't trying to be a dick, I wouldn't call it rare, as I don't know how many were produced or anything else, but google only brings up a search to a gunbroker forum, which has an article linked that's dead now, there's really no other info on the name that I can find. I figure a 103 year old shotgun that was probably a hardware store special is fairly uncommon these days. I bet theres a handful of arfcommers who probably know more about it than we do.

Thanks! I've cycled rounds through it but haven't fired it yet, but it cycles fine. It's plastic and feels a bit flimsy. The provided spring drops in from the top and just sits in there which I'm not really a fan of. When I actually get out and shoot it I'll check back in.

Yea I just want to encase a real aluminium upper in a steel jacket. There is no way I would make a steel upper. Hell I might even fail at putting a real upper in a tube of steel.

My biggest problem is a lack of tools. I dont even have a drill press currently  or even a garage to work out of.

ETA> Well lack of tools is a big problem I should also add a lack of skill and money might be a bigger problem

Use the SKS, but don't put it on a folding stock or use a duckbill magazine. Do something original with it.

Im sure they would gasp at a oxy propane/Acetylene setup but for a different reason also that we are taking perfectly good parts and making them look old

Yugo 59/66

Dremel out the top half of the spaces between the ribs of the grenade launcher to make a comp.

cut the stock, screw in a Galil or AMD-56 pistol grip.  Leave enough room on the stock to attach

a: underfolder AK stock, or
b: Polish wire folding stock off a Tantal.

replace rear sight with scout scope rail and optic of choice.

Your idea is neat, but that thing is WAY to pretty to fit the idea.   Drag that case behind your truck on a gravel road awhile, and dull up anything shiny on the rifle.

Still very cool, and sweet!

Had my stove crap out on me so that set my disposable cash back a bit. I am currently working out a plan on what I want to do. Right now I am leaning towards a 22lr pistol. The pic below kinda inspired me and might make a good suppressor host I will most likely not paint it like that though

I'm still working on my Rhineland kit. If TEOTWAWKI and I couldn't have a real gun it would be my light weight youth M700 with AAC Ranger or Colt 6933 and KAC NT4. In this fanatasy I plan to bug out then start looting food and other supplies. Then burn a bus load of nuns for warmth and sexual gratification.

I always thought that was a cool design before I got into the technical side of guns......I can't imagine a blowback and likely open bolt 20 gauge with an 8" barrel being very practical

Simple enough design though TBH, I feel like it'd be a bitch to get to run properly
