Especially since my Mk 2 has a magwell cracked right in two.

The part in between the pin bosses doesn't even need to be there. The front part of the magwell can be solid below the pin bosses. But yes, that is a weak point. The front pin bosses both broke off of OrionHammer's PINEABORTION, I think he called his wooden lower. The bolt stop pin has often been replaced by screws. On a .308" billet receiver I saw @ Trinity Ordnance today, the forward boss is just faired into a reinforcement, and a screw goes through the bolt hold open. |

If the Russian steel-cased ammo goes away, it won't be nearly as cheap to shoot. Plus the fact I've always liked that round. Impressive - and impressive in terms of the tooling it must have worn out to build - but all titanium and still weighs more than a DPMS Gen. II? Seems a bit of an odd project. I think I'm running on about fifteen hours sleep in last four nights, so I'll say good night here. Catch y'all another night. |
