Beta is the measure of the volatility of a security
compared to the volatility of its benchmark. If you are investing in high-beta investments, you are taking more risk to earn that potential reward compared to the benchmark.
I’m sure you already knew that, just want to remind you that you are increasing your downside risk; it is harder to watch it go down more than the benchmark and resist pulling out when it’s going down.
