It is often easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

It's ok to say you have to inform her of purchases........it sounds better.

Does your wife ask you your permission before she makes a purchase? But we're not exactly rich. Yup. Same here. |

No but I consult her anyway; decent relationships are built on mutual respect.
|
|
No but she does get annoyed when I buy things and don't tell her

Most of the time I just buy it. But its not like I'm hiding it from her, she just doesn't care.
But she will ask me if I care if she buys something for like $60 bucks. I say heck no, just buy it....Thinking to my self I just paid $1700 for a freaking 1911 |

It's not an issue of permission, but as many have said communication and respect.
We don't have to budget down to the penny, but if there is any major purchase either one of us is considering, it is discussed. Now, with firearms, I usually start off with "I'm interested in xxxx". Then it progresses to showing her what I'm looking at and what it runs. Then when I find a good deal, I can pitch it and see if she agrees that it's a good buy. |
|
As others have said, I bring it up out of respect, and to see if she has anything major coming up that needs to be factored in.
Last month I was starting to ponder a AR10 style rifle, but asked if she had her eye on anything big first. She mentioned wanting her own precision bolt gun, so I bought her that instead. I was devastated I tell ya. I sometimes wonder if she really likes shooting that much, or if she just does it to spend more time with me. I think she really does love it, she really good, but either way I'm good with it. |

I don't ask permission for anything she doesn't have to either
Any purchase over $500.00 we normally run by each other. We are both frugal mother fuckers like bitch on fire with the dollar. I wish she would spend more on herself. |
|
No, I don't need to ask or get permission. Nor does she need consult me on her purchases.

No, but I don't buy guns anymore. Down to one pistol. I probably won't buy a single firearm this year. Gotta pay some shit down.

I don't but then she has no idea how many I have.
If I have the disposable available then I have the option. |

No
But since we talk about everything I will normally mention any purchase over $100 to her as a nice guy.... She will bring up any purchase for any amount that she wants to make.... We always encourage each other. |

holster no new cz spo1 shadow yep because we don't have the money for the cz and it would be a bad decision to put it on a cc

lol no
I was looking at pistols on my table one day. Her - Do you need to buy another gun? Me - No. I can go out and get a motorcycle like all my friends. Her- Enjoy your guns. |
|
If either one of us is going to spend more than a couple of hundred we generally check with each other.
Generally, but not always. |
|
|
Yes, but she is a complete enabler whenever it comes to buying something new and shiny, not matter what the item.

I let her know but don't have to ask for permission or anything like that. She does the same with stuff she buys.
|

Even though I have a gf of 5 years who does live with me, I don't "ask" for permission . But I don't buy "toys" till all bills r paid for and nothing for the house is needed. That being said the gf does call my benelli m4 (tile) and my hk g36c (marble counter tops)

After 35 years we have a system. I don't ask how much she spends on clothes and don't ask about what I spend on guns .
