This is an awesome thread guys and it has inspired me to do something I never would have considered before reading this thread. I'm going to auction my GOLD arfcoin. This is a standard 1oz silver arfcoin that I had flash gold plated at work in 24 kt gold. Basically, this is a standard 1oz silver coin that has had ~ $4 worth of 24kt gold electroplated to it. As far as I know, it is 1/1. Here are some pictures of it: http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q84/blkt72/goldarfcoin006.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q84/blkt72/goldarfcoin005.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q84/blkt72/goldarfcoin004.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q84/blkt72/goldarfcoin003.jpg The gold coin is all that is included in this auction, I'm keeping the Python, the Baer TDP and the Sebenza. Winning bidder will pay the OP and I'll ship the coin at my expense. Please bid early and often, this is a great opportunity to help a deserving person out. Blkt $50.00 !!! for the GOLD COIN!!!! |

Quoted: $100 bid on the spyderco Quoted: Sending donation, and will start the Spyderco Captian at $50 Edit: Also, if you IM me a shipping address I'll get some toys/clothes out for the little girl and possibly some clothes/care stuff for the adults (send sizes please). Thank you sir, but I think we can do better! If I remember correctly, I paid more than $100 for it. Here are the pics: http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/bwheeler111/be4b5e86.jpg?t=1325216947 http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/bwheeler111/d1c51f7d.jpg?t=1325217831 Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. Any marks on the blade are just smudges or oil. It scares me to really wipe it down thoroughly it's so frickin' sharp. |

Crap saw this on the news but didn't realize the guy was a service member.
I'll reach out to the local VFW and AL to see what can be done in that regard. Also, I'll offer up an ARFCOM Silver coin (#5 ?) and a 2011 Christmas Edition Dillo. |
|
Will hit the post office tomorrow and mail you a money order, I hope it's no too inconvenient.

Seems to me if we are going to help a warrior, the weapons of warriors are wonderful things to donate for auction. I am offering up a unique item, a Bowie knife made by one of the Nepalese Kamis of Himalayan Imports. While all knives and knukuris from HI are one of a kind custom creations, this is something not of their norm. As the donor, I can't let it go unless it raises at least $250... Shouldn't be too hard if a challenge coin is bringing in $525 last I checked. So here she is, the reserve price and opening bid is $250. Do I see $250? http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c89/HiramRanger/3d313476.jpg I don't see a bid for this. I will bid $250. |
|
Calling the bank tomorrow (from the link on page 1) to make a donation. Can't do much with the holidays but I can do at least 100 for them.

Holidays has me strapped, sending a $100 donation tomorrow. Will send more next payday.

If I have made any mistakes on this, it wasn't on purpose, if i have missed any bids, let me know, that also wasn't on purpose. I did this version using Wordpad, as it seems to get along with the site formatting better than MS or Open Word. ETA: The Fedex truck just dropped off the two silver ARFcom coins from smokiexd45, as he said, they are the solid silver coins, and are in mint condition in their original unopened cases. I will get pictures of them both up in the OP later. |

I wish I could do more. This story breaks my heart, and I have done nothing but think about it since it happened. I am not a religious person by any means, but my prayers are out to this gentleman. He is going to have a tough road ahead of him.

That's $2,300 according to my math for the auction stuff, plus whatever folk donated outside of the auction.
|

There's still a couple of silver coins with no bids in case anyone missed them. There was a LOT of grumbling over missing out on them when they were sold out originally.
