I did today....
Your ATF/NFA application is in process. When an application is completed, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) will provide the final determination. Currently, there is no further status information available. My mail from Carol back in Aug Ripley, Carol S. (ATF) Aug 1, 2023, 10:34 AM to me Yes, waiting for background to clear – You are in Delay status - The NICS Section has experienced unprecedented high volumes of incoming transactions requiring the escalation and reallocation of NICS employees as we strive for the timely resolution of incoming NICS transactions. As a result, backlogs in other areas of processing have occurred. One of those areas is the processing of the National Firearm Act (NFA) background checks. |

Think this will go anywhere? PLEASE GIVE ME AN UPDATED STATUS. C. RIPLEY UPDATED AUG 1 2023 MY FORM 1 WAS AT NICS "DELAYED" STATUS DUE TO UNPRECEDENTED DEMAND. TODAY [email protected] WOULD ONLY STATE THE APPLICATION IS IN PROCESS, NO FURTHER UPDATE. I'M OVER 400 DAYS PENDING, AND HAVE RECEIVED MY FFL AND SOT SINCE SUBMITTING THIS FORM 1. FORM 1 AND FORM 3 ARE BEING APPROVED IN A FEW DAYS TO WEEKS CURRENTLY, BUT I'M STILL PENDING AND NEITHER ATF OR FBI CAN TELL ME WHERE MY APPLICATION IS. AT THIS POINT I'M PREPARED TO ASK MY CONGRESSMAN TO INQUIRY THE PROCESS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION. |

I am not buying the Trust BS...I simply think they do not like trusts and slow boat them to discourage us from doing it..I filed my simple SS Trust back in Sept. 23.. I can read through the whole thing in under 5 minutes..And they see the SS Trusts 100s of time a day likely..There is only one Lawyer/Company that handles the SS Trusts.. Nothing to get confused about there at all..I can see a Standard more complicated Trust taking a day longer as other names and info are on them..My SS Trust is me, one responsible person..That is no more time consuming than any other individual form in my opinion..
Whats really pisses me off though is that others that did the same SS Trust recently, exact filing methods, and they get theirs in a two to three weeks..And mine sits since last Sept.. |

How long does it take for the ones currently not getting fast approval’s? I submitted two weeks ago and my guess I’m going to be waiting for a while. Not like I haven’t waited a long time before, curious as to how long this one will take.

Usually my NICS takes 10-15 minutes every time I buy a gun, just bought one couple days ago and it took 10 minutes to be approved. I’ve already waited over 420 days a couple years ago and a couple months ago before the fast approval’s started I got 3 approved, 201, 160 and 140 days. The 140 was my fastest so far to date, all three came back in a 2 day period. |

I got a response from the NICS liaison at 5:30 this morning. At 10:30 I received six approvals including one old one.
