This was posted on SSD this morning Congratulations to SIG for the Win! I think I know which Unit this is for, but like SSD I'll let SIG make a press release. Just think, HK won't release their "elite" 416, other than as a nearly $3K sporting version, but SIG is/will-be offering the MCX for under $2200 along with SBRs, etc... View Quote Sounds like it beat out the Honey Badger(yet another unobtanium gun). Looking forward to the details/press release. |

Looks good, is that a short throw selector or a regular version?
I do wish they'd kept the MPX's right hand accessible bolt release. |
|
It's the standard 90, BAD said that the 45 might not work properly because the Mcx doesn't have a small cut in the receiver on the left side to allow the short throw to fit properly.

View Quote Are you talking about the little pin on 45 degree? Yeah, that grinds right off. Its only there for lawyer purposes.I have one on my "incompatible" DDM4. That said, as much as I like the 45 throw, with all the time I have on Sig rifles with ambi selectors I just use my trigger finger to swipe the selector to safe. Just as easy and much cheaper. |
|
That could be it, I never looked at the 45. I handled a few and while slightly quicker I still prefer the 90. Plus the 90 was like 50 bucks no shipping at the NRA show.

The thread on SIGtalk is active again. One guy says he talked to an MPX engineer and the guy mentioned that the gas valve inside the MCX's gas block can get clogged with carbon. Another poster says his local dealer told him there's a recall on the MCX.

Gorgeous! How's it run suppressed? Fantastic. Trying to track down a meter, but to my ears it seems to be a very quiet host in comparison to my 10" SCAR and 10.5" AR which I did not expect given it has only 9" of barrel . I've only shot 5.56 through it so far. Going to order some 300BLK subs this week and try out the other barrel next weekend. |

SIG just posted on their Instagram that they'll be starting to ship the MCX with a 2-position gas valve. It sounds like the initial Cabelas guns are sold and now they are going to general market.
The MCX release is scheduled in stages. the 16", followed by the 9" pistol, and then the SBR variations to follow. You are correct, the gas system is being changed. The Cabela's rifle had an auto regulator, and all the MCXs that are coming to the consumer market now will have a two position regulator. The reason is that when firing suppressed we were not happy with the sound level, and the 2 position regulator will allow for a much quieter shot. The 16" will be the first to be released with the 2 position system, be looking for them to hit the shelves mid-late summer. View Quote I'm still chomping at the bit for a 10.5"-11.5" pistol to SBR. If I ever have any money again I want to go to an SBRed MCX with a T-1 and DBAL-I2 with an AEM2 can for my main gun. |

It is the old M4-M, which I've heard very good things about. The size/reduction reputation along with reduced blowback combined with the MCX's ability to be very well suppressed seems like it'd be an ideal dedicated setup. As for the "too loud" issue, SIG is trying to really push the limits of what suppressed firearms are capable of. The original MCX/HALO had a gasport on the barrel too small to drill in production. It worked VERY well, but they couldn't sacrifice a couple drillbits for every barrel made. It went through a redesign to make it produce-able. Venting gases are some of the biggest contributors to shooter perception of volume. If swapping to an adjustable gasvalve reduces a couple of decibels at the ear when suppressed due to reduced gas pressure venting at the block, IMO it would be worth the swap. |
|
In looking at pics of the pre-production MCX it looks like the handguard is notched to allow access to the gas valve. So if SIG goes back to making this manual adjustment model I wonder how this will affect existing guns.

I have an Ops Inc 15th model which uses the same mount as the M4-M. I love it. Very low blow back and great sound. Running it on an AR SBR with an adjustable gas block helps. I would like to get an M4-M or AEM2 at some point. With the MCX though, they use a pencil profile barrel. So your only hope, unless they come out with more barrel options, is to use the Spikes Tactical one piece mount or the M4 Extension Adapter http://aesuppressors.com/mounts/. |
|
With Rons reputation for being willing to make 1-off mounting solutions I'm not worried about getting exactly what I will need if I'm able to go with an M4M.
