Browning X-bolt .30-06 stainless/walnut with detachable magazine. Bolt is engraved with my name. I had a matching stainless Zeiss conquest and stainless Talley rings but I sold that so I'm currently without a scope. |

The EE here on Arfcom has been very good to me.
The VX3 on my rifle was $275, in like new condition. I've got a few good deals on there, and missed a bunch more. |

Very nice. I looked at those hard when I decided to buy rifles, but went with Stevens instead. Money was tight then.
I've got a .223 and .308. Was worried about the Mossberg's accuracy. That was unfounded. |

Dang, you folks have some incredible rifles. Love those big guns. Read everything I could get my hands on about hunting Africa a few years ago.
What stock on the Tikka, Liduidmetal? |

Boyds Prairie Hunter. The Coyote laminate and adjustable comb are custom options, went with a custom length of pull while I was at it. Very pleased with the stock, fits both my Tikka and me like a glove. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Very pleased with the stock, fits both my Tikka and me like a glove. Had no idea. Our .223 has a Prarie Hunter on it. Been very pleased. I think I'm going to sell my .308 stock and replace it. As is it doesn't fit in a scabbard or shoulder carry worth a damn. |

so I am heading out next week to Meeker Colorado for an elk hunt with my dad.
In August, I picked up a savage scout in .308 The reversed cantilever mount worked well, so i proceded with that set up and made some modifications american defense mount ching sling I removed the factory shark gill hat blower and installed a vltor The swift scope proved inconsistant, so last Friday, after my 4th box of 180 grain Fusion, I bought a 4-12 Redfield Renegade Saturday's session at 100 my dad has been working up loads with 180 Noslers heres the last 4 rounds of the day today at 200 yards |

View Quote Absolutely, 100%! If there's a Precision Rifle Board, there should be a Hunting Rifle Board. Anyway, here are my two: Nothing fancy, a 2008 Marlin 336 in .30-30. Added Skinner Sights that I need to get zeroed. Also have an XS Scout Mount. Been thinking of throwing a Primary Arms red dot on it. Remington 700 compact left hand in 7mm-08. Boyd's Classic pepper laminate stock, Timney trigger to replace the factory recalled one, DNZ mount/rings, Leupold 2.5-7 power scope. Really should get some better glass for this. |

Yeah, now for something completely different....... I don't think I've ever seen that caliber mentioned on this site, or ever.....
I'm glad this thread got started. There's just something about a bolt action hunting rig. I guess it just brings back good memories. |

This thread is making miss the Ruger M77 Mark II in 7mm Remington Magnum I sold. It was simply abusive to the shoulder, but the action was buttery smooth and it shot well.

View Quote It's an absolutely fantastic round with a history dating back to 1905 and African hunting. 286 Gr soft points are great for pretty much anything and with a very manageable recoil. There is a wide range of loads available. The Sako is more accurate than I am, but will cloverleaf at 200. I've hit 8" steel a few times at 400 yards, but I don't shoot as much as I'd like. I'm a big fan of the Ziess scopes and I've found the "Rapid-Z" BDC to be quite accurate when paired with their app. To say I'm satisfied with this setup would be an understatement. |

Wow, that's beautiful. Whoever sporterized it did a great job. Is that the original barrel? It sure is fat. Fatter than a sporter type barrel. I forget how thick the 1917 barrels were. Actually, I don't think I've ever seen one with the top handguard off.
