How can I ensure the gas block is above the port in the barrel?  I kept it centered as best I could, and it sits right on the step in the barrel,  so I'm guessing it is okay, but unsure.

When I finished mounting it all,  I through the BCG and CH from my M4 in to check function. It seems to not want to go into battery all the time. Didn't know if this was because it was (remotely) dry, and new,  or if I may have done something wrong?

How important is it to head space these? I don't have a bolt yet,  but after the problems above I'm thinking it will be in my best interest. Unless I'm missing something.

I can't wait until this is all together and shooting. I'm so close, but need to recoup finds after the recent purchases.

Could be gas tube is misaligned. Causing the gas key to hit it and not go into battery.

I had a full BCG in when this problem occurred, out of my M4. I'll have to double check tomorrow. Assuming that's the case, how could I remedy that?  Gas tube in upside down, or shorter gas tube?  ETA: I did remove the firing pin while this happened. Wouldn't think that would cause an issue, it was the only difference. Put the bolt back in the m4, and functioned perfectly.

Also, i put the bolt in with just the upper and it seemed to lock forward fine. When mounted on the lower it was approximately 50/50 between going into battery or hanging out. When it was out,  the FA did not help, although I did not force anything.

Snap a pic of your upper showing the gas tube and its placement looking straight down at it.  If you're BCG is catching half the time it should be obvious to see if the tubes alignment is off.

Stripe it off and add very light OD and feather the edges of the tape with black.

Yeah, but with that fellow you've gotta worry about getting it back with the same parts it shipped with depending on which rifle it is.

Got my 22Hs back from HaveBlue83 today.  They are now FLS- Former lever stops.  Great job, sir.
With that, I think this rig may be done.  Started with an HCS upper on a BCM lower near the end of '14 and it now sits on a Brownells A1, a long collar is installed, 2.5-8 m2 replaces the 3.5-10 M3 originally on it, along with a few other minor changes.

If there was an award for finest Mod 1 OR an award for most spec Mod 1, you would win both sir. Incredible rifle. I'm doing my best to get on your level.

Finally got that Mod 1 stock situated just right. Now will get an A1 lower, BUIS, a sling, and call it a day.

I pieced this all together with the help of an old thyme reloader @ cabelas :)

I have everything i need to start, minus the 1.760 OAL sizing gauge that i want to make @ school instead of spending money on one.

Ib of varget and a lb and some left of the 8208xbr. Both of these have got me .75moa groups before.

Oh...and probably 1.5k worth of good brass...so i will be doing brass prep for EVA haha

Man that thing looks good burt!

I meant to text you last night and totally forgot dude! Thank you again for the stock (Brandon sent me the stock for free when I had posted I was looking for one in here a few months back).

One more reason why this thread and thr people in it are the best on ARFCOM.

Go ahead and shoot me a text man! I got a new phone so I lost all my numbers

Hmm... tempting. Never installed an A1 stock before. Do I need anything else to get it installed onto a rifle buffer tube?

With that, I think this rig may be done.  Started with an HCS upper on a BCM lower near the end of '14 and it now sits on a Brownells A1, a long collar is installed, 2.5-8 m2 replaces the 3.5-10 M3 originally on it, along with a few other minor changes.

An A1 length upper screw.

Numrich like SARCO can be hit or miss on parts quality but at 23 bucks, if you are most likely going to paint the stock you will probably be alright. I've bought surplus parts from both places, sometimes it was almost pristine other times junk.

Yea bro, I get all my LC brass from work, and I dread having to prep it. Stupid Military crimp. Ive got a swaging die, but prefer using the cutter on a drill so I can de-crimp them at work. But hey....free-ninety nine.

https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/551210B.htm  A1 screw

https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/564730A.htm  A1 trapdoor stock assembly is cheaper on GPC's website than gunbroker

Are you willing to point me in the right direction on A.R.M.S. 38 for $400.

Everywhere I've looked they are all old posts. The newest was cross posted on Armslist/AR/AK.com. It is still up on Armslist, but its been gone.  Ebay sold one for $200 something used about a month ago, I missed that one.  There is only one place that I / google have been able to find that has a listing for the 38 SPR / Mod /  Mod 1 and I'm hoping on getting lucky with a back order.   If you've got some secret stash on these you should buy it.  I've been digging hard.  I know one will pop up eventually and I'm definitely jumping on it if I can. I think the time of picking and choosing are long past.

So a Harris HBRMS 6-9" is the correct bipod for a MK12 Mod 1, right? That and a KAC bipod adapter?
Do I also need a pod lock for it? If so, which brand?

I made some kids today. First test loads. Mic'd out neck, OAL, and case length and all is within spec and cycles in my holland. I need a case trimmer for the over 1.760 brass, but otherwise i am good. This is the scariest sh*t i have ever done lol.

Components: 8208XBR 23.2gr, Sierra 9377 77gr OTM, 2.260ish oal (i can fit 2.270 in my GI mags so thats awesome). Same load as i was shooting, but i reloaded it. Looks like 500rnds will cost me about $150 range. I hope it groups boys! Right now i am trying to replicate the last batch i had made for me, that stuff was .75moa for me.
