What's everybody using for a match up to a A2 upper? Just wanting a govt profile M16A2 clone, will Windham do okay?

I did my own battlefield pick-up treatment to it. The receivers and charging handle are the only pieces that are not original Colt and period correct parts.

I had a Magpul trigger guard which wasn't clone correct so I finally replaced it with the factory Colt Canada one.....any excuse to pollute these threads with photo spam :)

@Mister_Donut

While I'm not a fan of anything Canadian Military I do like the attention to detail on your build, and not just only that one, I recall you mentioning you're OCD? Think you should migrate South to the states where you're abilities are appreciated lol!

And, What are the prices like on Elcan Optics in Canada compared to the prices here in the states?

Lol, thanks.

The prices of Elcan are a little over the top here.  As
Used C79 will rum about $1,000 Canadian pesos, spent tritium, black scope condom....the green one is extra.

A working one, new in the box with the green cover goes for about $1,800 CAD.

The prices of the Spectre DRs just jumped to nearly $3k for the 1-4, but many retailers are still advertising last year"s prices (old stock maybe?).

Thank you. I actually read through both of your threads. I love that rifle. It has a Sabre Defence barrel that shoots as if it was a laser. If I find myself with the spare parts in the future, I will build another one.

M16A4 clone with Surefire M951 and malkoff M61 upgrade.  It does the job!  My patrol rifle is a featherweight compared to this guy.  It's a fun gun, so zip ties and electrical tape will do the job for the tape switch.  UID sticker with Aero M16a4 lower and BCM upper.  This is my favorite.

Made one like that several years ago.
I had a demilitarized (auto to semi) full auto lower (Colt) M16A1 and upper and wanted an A2 and did this:

In order to get the battlefield pickup look, I use some fine grit sandpaper, super fine steel wool, Gun Scrubber, some gun oil, attention to detail, and patience. I start off with the Gun Scrubber and spray down the receivers well and wipe them off. I follow up with the sandpaper and get the finish down to where I like it making sure that it has the right wear pattern. I follow that with the steel wool to get a good sheen. I then apply some gun oil and work it in and wipe off the excess. Sometimes, I will hit the receivers again with the steel wool if I need to take the finish down a tad more. I used to pay Nodak Spud to do the BFPU look until I decided that I could do it myself. I have had a few years practice doing this now.

I am now looking to get my 1971 M16A1 clone build done soon. Just waiting on the receivers from Nodak Spud. Should have them before the end of the year, I hope.

Being a movie prop collector (I could stretch myself to saying that I collect some guns because of the movies I grew up on) that's how they do it in the industry.

I simply love the look of your guns.

The one on the right, obviously. Nuthin' fancy budget musket.

PSA complete free float upper with Vortex Strikefire 2 (for now), Harris 6-9" bipod.  Rock River complete lower with A2 stock, standard milspec trigger (which actually seems pretty decent), Hogue pistol grip, winter trigger guard.

I plan on a Nikon P-223 3-9x40 scope and M233 mount, and a green cotton GI web sling.

I just pinned this mess together.  Haven't had a chance to fire it yet.
