Looks to me like it would be worse than a stock charging handle or a Raptor when it comes to blowback since there's nothing but open space between the latches.

The BCM Gunfighter is a better choice in an ambi latch if blowback is an issue since it looks like it's designed like a PRI Gasbuster.

I have the Raptor on one of my DI 7.62x39 ARs and really like it, even running the cheapest/dirtiest ammo I've not had an venting issues.

Would be curious to see the dimensions for these compared to a Raptor.

Where did you hear it was "designed like a PRI Gasbuster"?

Some people will remember me mentioning there was an upcoming new CH early last year, this is what I was talking about.

I remember either Bravo had that claim on their product info (Being all closed back) or someone posted it on the tech forums.

Thanks, I spoke directly with Paul, and it is not designed with that feature even a little.  That being said, I love the BCM Gunfighter CH, and it is what rides in my duty weapon.  Another one I really like is the Fortis Hammer.  I'm very interested in seeing how the final RA model turns out as I've got a few new builds that are waiting on them.

The BCM Charging handle was revised to mitigate gas blow-back. Here is an original compared to the revision (top). This Avalanche looks like it ENCOURAGES (funnels) gas right into the shooter's eyes from an over-pressure situation (suppressed, KB, etc.) in the upper:

That's what I think I was remembering - the extra hump up top prevents the gas from coming straight back.  Not a PRI Gas Buster, but still.

Hey Stick, FYI the Armageddon Tactical is one ambi CH I know of that is also a gasbuster.  I've got one, works fine, but honestly can neither confirm or deny the gas-control qualities as I have a piston on everything,  As an ambi CH it's fine, but I still prefer my Raptor.

Armageddon

Don't know that they are paying any of your bills but good to know about none the less.

How are the latches attached?

Is there any plan to make a mid/short latch version of this or the raptar?

the raptar is on my girls rifle, but the latches are just too big for me. Something like the short gunfighter or the LMT enhanced size latch with ambi stuff would be awesome.

Great gear as always though RA

No, IMO it has a design flaw with a direct opening in line with your eye. IMO they should have utilized a rear rim to deflect gas.

Do you have any pictures of one of these installed? Specifically the one you last posted. Or maybe some diameter/protrusion measurements?

Those options look nice.
IMO, they would sell twice as many if they were in more reasonable price range of $50-$60.

As long as your not shooting suppressed it shouldn't be an issue.

I do worry this new design will have issues as it has no rear lip.  Time and use will tell.

Awesome! You're the man, Stick. Now I'm even more hyped for the release of this than I already was.

Thanks.

EDIT: Based off of how well your first shot was taken, I opened it up in Photoshop and came up with a rough estimate on how far this is going to stick off of our rifles. Here's what it looked like after I made sure it wasn't going to be too far off.

So essentially, I just boxed in the rail, boxed in the charging handle extended directly from the rail, and came up with a difference of 20 pixels. The rail was 113 pixels wide, charging handle 133 pixels wide. Based off of the personally measured width of a picatinny rail being ~.85", this is going to be right around an inch off of the side. If this is off from the actual spec from Rainier, remember that this isn't out yet and I'm basing my calculation off of a single image.

I have a raptor on my gen 3 Noveske and I don't get any blowback with my Saker 5.56. Granted it does have a switch block on it.
