5 cases coming to me. Membership cost me 3 bucks from the club savings I think. Used coupon code spg2662 for $20 off. Plus the Fatwallet cashback (if it works right, i've never used it before) makes this a smokin' deal!
I MIGHT backorder 5 more cases. Can't decide on mags, ammo, or more AR accessories. -X |

You ordered 27 cases of Wolf from SG in two days?!? you sir are a true AMMO WHORE!!! You are my new ar15.com hero. I may buy some more Wolf, but I'm leaning towards something along the lines of more Guat. I won't shoot Wolf in my Recon or Colt, just my Bushy/RRA carbine. Wow, 27 cases. Just wow man. -X |

Look here for 7.62x39
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM627-47829-257.html There is no way this can be a real deal. |
$28.72 in fatwallet cashback savings! $499.86 delivered for 5 cases! That's $99.97/case. Funny thing is, that's about what it was from SG half a year ago if you were a member. Oh well, it's a good price in today's market.
-X (SERIOUSLY considering doubling my order ) |
Link results in $104 price, but once added to cart, I get:
Remove Wolf® .223 55 Gr. FMJBT 1,000 rds. Product: AX5M1-52591 You must be 18 years of age to purchase this item. Expected availability: August 1, 2006. *** $174.97 $174.97 $166.22 Whats up? |
You missed out, they raised the price the way these ammo whores were snatching it up. I hope we get ours. |
I just checked the status of my order and it shows o-k. They have not canceled anything yet anyways. I ordered the 20th and 21st. Only 4K so hopefully it will come.
Yeah I got the same thing. I called the 1-800 number and gave the item number. The guy says "There has been a slight increase in price due to shipping cost. $164." Slight! How is $104 to $164 slight? Oh well, I hope the ammo whores enjoy their stuff. I'm poor, I only wanted 2 measly cases. That's the breaks. |

I agree but they don't have act like I'm telling they a lie when I call. I must say that $60 price increase is a hell of a lot when something your selling is $104. For that price I'll buy brass. |
dammit i should have ordered more |
I ordered 20 cases. The scumbags weaseled out of it and just lost a customer for life. I'll be badmouthing them at every chance.

Not saying what SG did was right, but they do have this policy spelled out on their web page: www.sportsmansguide.com/main/shipping.asp HEAVY/BULKY Items, Large Quantity/Commercial Accounts Orders ... Large quantity orders may be considered commercial account orders, which would not be eligible for the Buyer's Club discount, and may require additional shipping charges. Additionally, a street address is required for large quantity orders and commercial account orders. You will be contacted after your order is processed to confirm any large quantity shipping charges. Of course, it's all useless without "a large quantity" being properly defined... |
IM glad I got 3k in. I wish I would have got 5k.
Isnt shipping until august though. :( |
Bingo. I also asked the CS rep if I could reduce the quantity to whatever level was acceptable and she said no, that once I was flagged as a "commercial" customer, there was no going back. |
There is a point where getting greedy comes back to bite you. |
Greedy? I'm not hording ammo, 20 cases would have lasted me a few months at most... I've been buying and shooting more than 5 cases a month since I got my RDIAS. I already had 10 cases backordered at $123/case. They posted the $99/case price, so I canceled my backorder and upped my order to 20 cases. |
OK, i can understand the extra shipping as it is clearly stated that large bulky orders may have additional shipping charges. 20,000 rounds is a very heavy order and i am not surprised that they would ask for extra shipping but canceling your membership for ordering to much ammo is a joke at best. i would file a complaint with the BBB. not for the extra shipping charges but because they cancled the membership. i have never seen an ammo limit listed on my membership. shit i have bought close to 15,000 rounds from them in the past year alone. not all at once but most orders were for 5,000 plus at a time.
when i place a large order for a heavy item i always break it down into more than one order/shipment. with their coupons i have had 5,500 rounds of .308 deliverd for less than $25. |
+1...Call them and tell them to return you membership fee, you may get it. Guys have had to pay more before when they have ordered amounts so large as to be considered commercial dealer orders. I think anything over 5 cases on a single order could come close to that, definately an order of 15 to 20 cases isn't going to be considered a personal use order when your talking 300 to 400 pounds of ammo. Also, gorvibub makes alot of sense in the advice about breaking a large order down and using the coupons on each order. |
I would call back and try to get in touch with somekinda manager and state you case. If you had 10 cases on back order I don't understand there problem. They should have atleast restored you original order and made you order less on new order. At $174 a case no one will be ordered any more from them.
They probably took a look at his prior 10 case order and the 20 case order and figured something was up. |
Now that im seeing how much of this stuff is on backorder im astonished! And wondering if they actually get these orders out when they say they do. Anyone had probs getting there order on time? I'm starting to think i should order some more military surplus and say the hell with the case i have on backorder.
you will get the ammo on back order. it might take longer than they say but it will come. i just got the last of my 7.62x39 order that i placed last year (9 640 round spam can's for $42 each). if you wait it will come. |
Yes, you won't get it on time as you say. You will get it when you get it. If you gotta have it now, go somewhere else.
Last year??? Holly shit man! Im not that patient. Especially for Wolf. Ill wait until the end for this month and see if they ship. If not im cancelling.
if you need ammo now spotsmanguide is not much help. what i do is when i see them with a really good price i place a large order and wait. then you can shoot what you stock piled the last time it was on sale and wait for the new order to come in. my last 7.62x39 order cost me lless than $400 deliverd for 5,760 rounds because i bought it when it was on sale. the same 640 round cans that i paid $42 for, now sells for over $100 on the auction sights.
at this price keep it on back order, they wont charge your card untill it ships. buy a smaller quantity some where else where can find it to hold you over untill your back order comes in. |
I didnt order the 99 dollar stuff, I ordered the 129 dollar stuff. I seen it was due to ship at the end of this month. the 99 dollar stuff wasnt due till august. I guess ill find out in the next couple days if the stuff is gonna ship.
Sounds like a deal. The ammo is worth at least $130/case. You paid $99. 20*30=$600 savings. Sounds like you're still up $435.00. What's the problem? |
Not sure where they place their "large order" limit, but when I ordered 18K rnds, I got the same "large order" email. I just replied to SG to cancel the order, and that I'd re-place a smaller order. So I did, 12K rnds is apparently OK.
I was one of the first ones to order when this was posted. According to the site, mine will "ship" on Friday. I believe I will get it closer to the end of summer.
Reading is fundamental. -They refused to honor the price and they did not inform me of this until they had increased the price to $175 so I could not just cancel and reorder less. -They would not just reduce my order to whatever arbitrary level is acceptable. -They informed me that I was now flagged as a "commercial" buyer and my 1 year "Buyer's Club" subscription was cancelled with no refund. To their credit they did, after several phone calls, agree to honor the $123/case price that I had canceled when they posted the $99/case deal. The lessons from this are: 1) The "Buyer's Club" is a scam. If you actually BUY a lot of stuff, they kick you out. They want you to pay your $30/year and just buy a moth-eaten wool blanket and maybe a cheap chinese knife or two. 2) SG does not like machinegunners. |
