Ordered!

Who has the best parts kit to go with these?

Edit: will a "stamped" parts kit fit a milled receiver?

If you guys are going to build FNC's and AK5's I would like to show you some pics of the new AK5C.

Note the BOLT HOLD OPEN like the AR15!!

Note the NEW folding / Telescoping stock.

New handgard with integrated rail for Vert. grip.

Thess improvements + fixing the mag well would be sooooo sweeeet. I want the stock for my FNC along with a new 1/7 barrel, but that is just me.

What my dream is, is if you guys "ORF" make the FNCs that you are thinking of SEAR READY.

All a customer would have to do is buy your product and pop in their  reg sear.
No extended paper work like curtis and no marring a sear serial number to a rifle serial number.
Is this possible?

Is that the final design? Or are you going to make any with the traditional indentation at the mag well?

JCKnife,
A stamped kit will fit a milled receiver. All you need different is a milled buttstock.
Link Posted: 8/15/2004 8:46:16 AM EDT
[#16]
Gary, I designed the new receiver so you can use the stamped stock. It just needs to be fitted to the opening in the receiver. The opening is about .100" smaller across than a stamped receiver/trunnion.

hardcorps, dammit man... if they build an Mp5K then you realize I will have to buy BOTH, and it will be more than $2000 out of my pocket?  Plus the $400 it would take to get both rifles SBR'd!

Could this get any worse for my wallet? (Or better for my crazy grin?)

It'd only be $200 for the SBR.  A semi MP5k will be a pistol again after the ban.

Not with a verticle front grip, with no buttstock if would be a AOW, that should also need a $200 tax to initially create, but $5 to transfer if I understand it correctly...  A SP89 style with a horizontal front grip and no buttstock would be a pistol though....

AR15fan-- its only  $5 to create an AOW but you must start with a receiver that has never been registered as a longgun.  Its a bit strange, you can't take an off-the-shelf Mossberg 500 and turn it into an AOW shotgun, you have to start with a brand new receiver.  Of course in this case (SP89 type) it wouldn't matter.

Jerad-- I live in Holden, MO which is between Warrensburg and Lee's Summit.  I work in Kansas City.  Have you been to the Missouri forums here?  Can you make it to the big shoot on the 18th?

hears a question?  what parts kits are going to be used with the mp5/rf94's  1000 for the weapon sounds great,  but i am wondering since the HK parts kits that are being sold are around 1400-1700,  whats the quality of the parts that are going to be used,   any real diffrence between those and the original besides the name?  well regardless count me in fora reciever

I don't think you're right about that.  I've read elsewhere that it's $200 tax for an individual to make a AOW (apparenlty certain class dealers can make them without the tax, beats me).

Looking it up in the NFA law I find this on making:

(a) Rate

There shall be levied, collected, and paid upon the making of a firearm a tax at the rate of $200 for each firearm made.

And this on transfers:

(a) Rate

There shall be levied, collected, and paid on firearms transferred a tax at the rate of $200 for each firearm transferred, except, the transfer tax on any firearm classified as any other weapon under section 5845(e) shall be at the rate of $5 for each such firearm transferred.

Note the lack of an exception for a AOW with the making tax, only the $5 transfer part is noted as different...

You can look at all the NFA law at this handy link, put in nice subsections: www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/26/stEch53.html

If someone has it on good authority that there isn't a $200 tax when you make/register a AOW please speak up, I'd very much like to build some AK AOWs on bent blank recievers but it ain't worth it with a $200 tax, might as well do an SBR in that case...

AR-15fan, I belive you are correct.. If a Individual files a Form 1, he/she has to pay a $200 making tax...

AR-15fan, looks like you are correct.  I remember looking into ordering a Serbu super shorty AOW shotgun awhile back and they were making a big deal about the AOW being a $5 transfer instead of a $200 transfer on a short-barreled-shotgun.  Now that I think about it, I probably assumed that the price of the setup did not include the cost of registering the gun for the first time, and therefore the $5 was to register a new firearm.  It was awhile ago.  Thanks for looking up the law and correcting my misconception!

So if its $200 to create an AOW and $200 to create a SBR, I know which one I'm going with, I want my PDW style folding stock!

Maybe something like this until the paperwork goes through:

EDIT: I really hope these guns come with the "Navy" style plastic lowers.  I like them more than the older type and the Mp5K never had a metal lower, it was always plastic.  Oh yeah, ORF, I'm willing to pay more for this.

Can you help a newbie out. I guess I spend to much time in the AR15 forum. I would love to purchase a gun in this configuration. With the fake can on it (total lenght 16.1" , is the gun just considered an everyday rifle and doesn't need any ATF approvals?

If yes, can you purchase the gun use the gun and then apply for an AOW stamp so you can have the fake can removed?

Bomber

PS When can I place my order?

If its made into a rifle first, you can't go back and make it an AOW.  Why would you want to take the stock off? AOW has to be on a virgin reciever.  Stupid rule, but thats my understanding.  That sucker will fold here after two days.  Just get it as a rifle.  Shoot it, and get your SBR paperwork submitted.  Its $200 sure, but you get to keep your stock, and play with it in the meantime.

I managed to get out there today, (glad I live in IN!) ORF is COOLEST STORE/SHOP EVER.  I am now committed to spreading the word, having visited. They have alot of cool stuff in the works for sure.
