Hello, I am new to the site. I have lived in Alaska for about 6 years. 4 in Dutch Harbor and now 2-1/2 in Wasilla. I am in the process of building my first AR-15. I just received my Rock River lower and now I am getting with my friend in South Carolina to help me get it started. Look forward to shooting it in the future!

Hello
I'm in Valdez and name is Denis.  I like the AR-15 because it's a mechanical wonder.  I've had an AR since 1985 and like to shoot it.  In the USMC I had an M-14 and that was also a very good gun, and is still doing the odd job in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I've got a wife and two kids, and all enjoy shooting.  The kids like .22 rimfire rifles and pistols.

Back up on grid power now, but we are solar powered for much of the day.
Utility power is 22 cents per kilowatt hour, so the Solar panels are starting to look
like a good investment.

Please post your set up. It is of interest to many of Us here.

This addiciton is going to get worse, I can tell already.

Greetings to all the New Cheechakos.

Any of you up for Lunch?
If so then make a new thread about doing *Lunch* and a few of us Sourdoughs might be willing to make this event.

I would be up lunch, but I am only able to make  it to Anchorage once a month and that is on a Wednesday. In fact, this coming Wednesday, but must be around 11:30 or so. I have to be at the airport no later than 1 PM, so somwhere clsoe to the airport would be better, like Gwinnies or the like. I work a 2 week on/2 week off schedule in the Winter and a 3-n-3 in the Summer. Would be nice to me some of you folks.
Thanx,
Mike

What's happening in Nome?  Hmmm........it's between "not much" and "colder than crap!"

Just enjoying the snowfall over the past couple of days......now we're back into the sub-zero temps, which are not so enjoyable!

Hello, Chris O here from Anchorage.  I'm 40 something (thats what I started saying when it was more than halfway between 40 and 50 anyway!) I've been wanting a cool predator type rifle for quite some time and when eveyone decided Sarah didnt have enough "experience" and we were going to have "change" weather or not we wanted it... I thought now was as good a time as ever.  Anyway, my search for the perfect rifle for me led me here and after purchasing several various rifles, ( I'm mostly stuck between the gas piston thing and the impingement system.  I have a couple fine examples of both and have been experimenting down at the RC range to help make up my mind) and lowers, and uppers, I'm getting pretty close now!  So, I'm lingering around, trying to decide what to settle on and sure enjoying the information I've been able to glean from elsewhere on this site.  Its great to see so many Alaskans here!

Greetings Mr. O

"Anyway, my search for the perfect rifle for me led me here and after purchasing several various rifles,"

Hehe. We are all on the same quest. Hint > there is not one, but some come closer than others.

Hope, to see you on the line someday.

Kind of starting to feel like home here now!

Preston from Healy here.  Workin' at the coal mine.  Mainly on the FALfiles as AlaskanMBR.  Member of AMGA, will be at the shoot this memorial day weekend - Give me a shout if you are so we can be sure to say hi.

I do a lot of reloading and WECSOG'n.  My favorite rifles are the ones that are black. :D We have some sweet places to shoot here in Healy, and you get used to shooting in some crazy ass wind.

If you're ever going to be in Healy for a few days give an IM and we can set up a course of fire and have some fun.

Cheers!

To P,

I lived in the denali Park area for about 10 year and worked mainy for the Alaska Rail Road.  I recall buying lots of guns and ammo from Terry and shooting often in Healy.

[#40]
Terry's still sellin' ammo!  With prices so high lately I haven't bought much, been very busy reloading though.  I've been keeping my LnL warm.

Love it up here.

My name is LeRoy; I'm up in Fairbanks.  Ex-mil, 41 years old.  Been shooting since I was 5, or so.  And hunting/fishing/camping since I was allowed to.

Preston, I'm sorry that your favorite rifles are all black. I can help with that, you know . . .

Nice site, Dylan.   Hmmm, you don't show it on your site, but is .32 Special (Rifle) still available?  Got an old Marlin lever-action that shoots it.  Can shoot .30-30 through it but, would rather use the ammo it's made for and I've run a bit low on that.
Link Posted: 4/2/2009 6:11:38 PM EDT
[#44]
Thanks, Check this out: .32 Special Leverevolution

This is available now and has even slightly better ballistics than their .30-30 ammo. I have a 1940's Winchester 94 in .32 Win Special.

Hey Dylan!  Good to hear from you man!

If my rifles were to be anything other than black you'd be the one to camo 'em for me.

Here's what I did to that saiga I got from you:
