I made it through 2 rounds of 20% reductions. I just didn't make it through the third. Maybe you'll get to stay.

Well I am now unemployed. Shit happens.
If I owe you money, sorry might be awhile. If you owe me money, see the folks I owe money to. |
Sorry man.
File your unemployment by EoB on Thursday and if I understand correctly this week will count as your waiting week. At least you don't have to commute to Seattle 5 days a week now. |

Sorry Gibby, that sucks. Phil, how does one get a partial week to count as their waiting week? You can file your weekly claims by calling the weekly claims line, or on the Internet. Call any time between 12:01 a.m. Sunday and 5 p.m. on the last working day of the week (usually Friday). You can call from any phone, but you may have difficulty using some cordless or cellular phones. When you file a weekly claim, you answer a series of questions about the previous week. To keep your claim current, you must file your weekly claim each and every week until you return to work. If you miss filing a week you wanted to claim, you need to call the TeleCenter. If you did not apply for unemployment benefits until the end of this week, give us two business days to process your application before filing your first weekly claim next week. The first week you file your weekly claim and are eligible for benefits is called your waiting week. You must file a weekly claim for your waiting week, even though we do not pay you for the week. If I'm reading that correctly, as long as you file so that they have two business days, that will count as your waiting week. If not you have to wait until the following week to file, which will then count as your waiting week. |

Sorry Gibby, that sucks. Phil, how does one get a partial week to count as their waiting week? The EU considers that he is un-employed as of right now. The benifit week ends on Friday midnight. It would usally count as a waiting week unless he got some pay in lieu of notice. Then the waiting week would be next week. ETA: The maximum benifit for UI is $611 right now. ($25 from the feds and $? from the state) |

Just finished filing for my bennies. I can turn in my first report on Monday. They said that they are backed up so it could be several weeks before I see a dime.

I'd bet money you don't get laid off on a wednesday and that week counts as a waiting week. Gibby, Keep up posted about the waiting week thing. If you report on Sunday, you should have a letter on Tuesday. If there is no check in there, next week is your waiting week and the letter will explain that. |
Sorry about that. I hope you land on your feet soon. Looks like you have a good amount of friends to support you.
Gibby, I haven't met you either but you have my best wishes. I'm sorry to hear about the layoff.
I had two co-workers get laid off today, and I was close with both of them. It was a sad day, but of course I don't need to tell you that. But as we all know, sometimes a layoff can lead to much better things, even if it's hard to see that at first. But hell, you've already got an offer for salmon fishing and some gov'mint money coming your way –– that's a damned good start! Best of luck to you. |
Shit. Sorry to hear that. At least you've got unemployment to fall back on for a bit of help. I've been 'self employed' for the last 6 months (jokers from NY can't seem to figure out how to make me a Washington W2 employee). If this job dries up I'm fubar.
Thanks for all the support. If it makes you feel better, I'm currently cooking a couple steaks on the BBQ.

May be a few Helpdesk jobs open at the place I'm working at in the very near future...
.......However, there is a reason everyone is leaving out interviewing! |
Sorry to hear that gibby...
$611/week? Really? Wow, last time I was on UC the max was only about $525 - and that was last year at this time. I could live fairly reasonably on $611/week - at least for a while. Ah, the perks of being (mostly) debt free |
Sorry to hear about that buddy. Good luck scoring a new job.
