Yep being seen a lot of them with the reduced price. Here's a NIW Para for $6,999.

I wonder how low prices will go. I remember when the "limit edition" first SCAR16's were going for around $5k. I bought one of those first thousand guns second hand on EE back in 2011 for $2300 with the storm case.

Mine:

For the weekend anyway....

Was kinda cool firing it the first few times, even carrying it around on ex, but after a while, I found I preferred shooting the C7.

Pretty awesome that it's available for sale, even in semi-auto only.  in Canada, it would probably be limited to a 5 round belt....super lame.

I'd probably buy one anyway if I was in the right tax bracket, lol!

Still happy with my purchase!

I've put in for my stamp on an FN 15.5" para barrel.

Has anybody bumpfire-fied a Para Stock yet?    Turn down the ends where it screws into buttplate, about 1.5" total, slide a washer on each then a spring.  Then either slot the buttplate for a cross pin on each or drill thru the buttplate, drill and tap the stock struts for two screws that retain the buttplate?

I might replace the Para stock struts with 7075 round stock, turn down the buttplate ends you can almost make the springs blend in with the original dia/profile.

The MG34 and MG42 bipods, you lean the MG a bit forward into it, then the gun just floats on that plane, the recoil driving it backwards then the weapon weight tilting forward like on a fulcrum.  The M249 Bipod is more rigid so you would need a couple stout springs that can overcome the weapon weight/bipod friction.

Prices are better nowadays. Just snatched on on gunbroker for 7k plus 75 s&h (I know but still).

Question. I want to put an optic... something variable.... suggestions? My BIL has an ELCAN he's not using but getting that loaned seems like a longshot.

Been debating on an Elcan and a ACOG 4x32 LED. B&H sells the Acog LED for $1099. Can't make up mind on those or if I should go with something else. Some people who owned both say they prefer the Acog over the Elcan. Elcan is twice as much in price.

Can the flash hider on the para barrel be removed? I've seen some state it's welded and the threads are some odd pitch, and then others state it's a standard 1/2x28 and not welded.

Mine came right off pretty easily. The standard M249s Para barrels have a different thread pitch (9/16-24 LH). From what I understand only the MK46 Para barrels have the 1/2x28 thread pitch. You can get new MK46 14" barrels over on gunbroker. Prices on them were pretty high when they first came available (@$900) but have come down steadily. Right now you can get one for @$375 or so. I had to change mine out to a muzzle brake since I'm in a ban state.

Thanks.

I contacted FN about using a suppressor on the 249S and they responded it's not designed for it. Looking at the warranty you'd be SOL if anything breaks when using a can.

I just realized your production Para barrel has been welded so your muzzle device will not come off in order to keep it a legal length of 16" The Para barrel I had bought wasn't welded so it came right off. I don't think you will have any issues with running a can on your M249s.

Here's some pics of the Para barrel with custom thread adapter and new muzzle brake. Was pinned/welded to bring the length to 16".

Per FN:  https://fnamerica.com/products/machine-guns/fn-m249-para/

The FN Para barrel is 16.3"; why are you changing the FH?

I'll have to measure mine now.

A standard Para barrel measures  @13-3/4" to the end of threads. Needs to be pinned/welded to bring out to 16" total length to be legal. I changed the flash hider because we cannot have them out here in Ca as of this year.

Also be aware that if you do buy a MK-anything rail from him that it will require that you drill on your receiver to mount it and it wont come with any mounting equipment, just the rail

I just received an M249S PARA today and somehow the slide hammer is cocked and the button safety is on.
I was unable to move the safety to fire position.
Obviously, the manual indicated that as well.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue without damaging the rifle?

I picked up my para from my lgs like that too.  I simply gently tapped on it with a tiny hammer til it released.  Took it apart to check everything and it's all good.  Gun functions fine.  I'd emailed FN about it but never heard back.

Your milage may vary.

Dang... we should get better customer service with that much coin spent.
I might try that hammer technique, but it's nerve-racking for sure.
I couldn't find any info about the issue on the net as well.

Tell me about it.  Just tap gently.  Once mine slipped to fire, the side hammer released, so make sure it's not loaded, lol.

You're the man.
I gently tapped the safety button, and it slide into fire position w/o any trouble.
They should have included this info in their manual.

Yes, or just shoot mags (mine runs fine with mags, including the large ones), or buy a linker.
