This Ruger is one of those finishes that looks like a two-tone in some light, and uniform SS in others. First 1911, glad I went with a CMD and 9mm. So far a great combo.

That's hot.  Never seen that rear sight though.  The milspec makes a good upgrader.

Old School ...

1915 Colt 1911.

Can't prove it went south of the border, but the serial number traces to the shipment of a batch of Colt 1911s to the U.S. Army a few months before the start of the Mexican Punitive Expedition.

I like to think it might've been fired in anger at some of Pancho Villa's banditos.

Yep, that's how we dealt with border-jumping terrorists who killed Americans back then. We saddled up with Colt .45s and 1903 Springfields, and went down into Mexico and shot them.

Just finished this 9mm for a friend.  PT 2011 frame, STI slide, KKM barrel.

Also acquired a SVI Officer's model.  Normally I don't go for 3" 1911s but I couldn't let this one get past me.

Here is my latest.

I had this mil-spec sitting in the safe unfired for 10 years because I wanted to customize it and never got around to it. Well this year I finally decided to fix that and sent it to Stan Chen for some work. He did the following:

Pro-trac checker the front strap
Install his 2nd gen mag well and pro-trac checkered mainspring housing
Flatten top of slide and serrate
Shorten slide stop pin, champher hole
Cut slide for sights and install Harrison rear and Novak front night sight
Vz grips

When I got the gun back, I decided to finish it up myself. I added the following:

Greider trigger
Harrison ignition components. I did a trigger job and it breaks like a glass rod at 4.5 lbs.
Harrison extended mag release/blend to frame
EGW thumb safety reprofiled
EGW grip safety profiled and blended
EGW pins
Straightened a few lines
Sandblasted all parts and refinished in manganese parkerizing.

haha, no... Those are are stainless mags I refinished with GunKote 10 years ago, i did not blast them so I am sure that contributed to wear. I did just blast and cerakote some of my newer tripps, they should last a little longer (although I will admit they are wearing faster than I anticipated compared, but dirt and metal on metal will do that with no lube).
