I really like that. Something like that will be my next 1911 purchase. Simple is good.

I always wanted something Springfield milspec-ish with a blued finish so I'm pretty happy with it overall, though I wish it had a normal (or ring) hammer, and I'll probably add the wrap around pach grips to give it a little more girth.

That's not something you see everyday though.  The colt type extended safety and newer hammer.  Did you do that?  I love the look of it until you look at that front strap.  And then I go, ugh.  But if that doesn't bother you.  Otherwise that thing is purdy.

Older SA's have that angular, squared off front strap that doesn't really "flow" into the grip panel.  My first 1911 was a Springfield loaded that had the same type of frontstrap

What type of wood are the grips on your top left Kimber?

Where did you get them from?

I've got an 80% 2011 project going.  Cut the frame rails yesterday.  Waiting on a bunch of parts from Brownells and the Jarvis barrel now.

You got my IM I hope.  I probably shouldn't have said anything.  It's all preference.  It's a really nice 1911.  But yeah, like the other guy said the front strap doesn't blend overly well.

Yeah it's no problem, not something I have a preference on either way, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some awful bubbaing or safety issue I missed.

All done with my 9mm 2011 ghost gun.  80% aluminum 2011 frame, Fusion commander slide, Jarvis barrel,  and a bunch of other STI, Wilson, C&S, and Nighthawk parts were used.  Lightly blasted and coated in Norrell's black moly resin.  I've got it running suppressed and naked with 115 and 124 standard ball and 158 subs using a cut down recoil spring.  I've got a tuning kit that I'm going to play with to see what the actual spring weight is that it likes.

This is my first build like this and I learned a lot.

First 9mm 1911....it either needs a little more break-in or this thing just likes to be well lubed. I've had a couple times where it won't lock back on the last shot of an empty mag(does it on both mags). We're only up to about 250rds thus far so time will tell.

Sorry for the late reply. It started out as a plain Mil-Spec bought in 1994. After a little work by a local smith and a visit to the Springfield Custom Shop ten years ago, I basically have a Loaded with a few personal touches.
