I don't see how this is a F/S thread. He mentioned that he tried selling the gun locally, but didn't get an offer he thought was reasonable. So he's keeping the gun and asking about replacing the handguard. He's done nothing wrong with this post. Let's keep the 13er/14er crap in GD......
OP, your RRA rifle does not have a standard barrel nut. That rail uses the RRA style barrel nut with a jam nut to hold the rail in place. If you want to avoid changing the barrel nut, you can probably use one of the other RRA rails, like the TRO
HERE. With this rail, you would just have to loosen the jam nut, remove the old rail, thread the new one on, and tighten the jam nut back. You could leave the barrel nut, gas block/tube and flash hider in place.
If you want to use the Troy Alpha rail, you'll need to buy a new barrel nut and install it. As mentioned above, they're less than $10.
