I am looking for the Loudest most Obnoxious muzzle break out there right now, I want it to go on a 7.5 in 223 barrle for a SBR. I know most people hate the noise, but I want something I can take to a shoot, fire 20 rounds and put away after I have everyone attention. Currently I am running a 10.5 with a Jerry Micule break, and it will make people stop and look. The louder the better, any suggestions?

mini Y-comp is pretty damn loud and will blast anyone standing next to or behind you. I had one and I called it a mini whine-comp due to all the complaints around me. I have to admit that is an awesome break that really works, be it very anoying. I have a Phantom now and love it more.
I am actually looking for a flash enhancer my self.... |
there's nothing that can compare to the mini-Y.
I'd put it up against JP's monster any day. I've had almost all the brakes, nothing comes close. |
Mini-Y on 7.5" all set on top of a M16 lower, selector set on auto....
Mini-Y on my 22-250 bolt gun will actually pull the firearm forward. Might also try the old "Clark" ?? I think it is. |
I vote for the mini y-comp.I have one on my 14.5.It is extremely loud and puts out a nasty blast if you stand anywhere but directly behind the shooter.its a very effective brake.almost zero recoil.
I have to disagree with you there... I shoot a 7.5" with a pig on it, and it's more bearable than longer bbls with A2 fhs. |
Depends on if you want to 'hear the music' or not. I have found out the hard way that AK slant brakes reflect sound pretty good back at the shooter when shot from the hip (you know for bump firing).
There is someone who makes a "brake" specifically for that - It makes the awfullest ball of flame at the muzzle ..... I'll try to find it. ETA: OK, it's the DeGroat Flash Enhancer Link |
I jsut want noise personaly, the kind of sound that makes people without ear PRO run and the one with it stop un load and watch
If YOU'RE shooting it, yeah. That's what it is designed to do. But for those next to you and in front of you...not so quiet. There is a tin roof at the 200 range near my house and it shakes the loudest when I shoot my 7.5/KX3, even louder than when I shoot my 7mm Mag. |

This is a guaranteed headache even with the best ear protection. No joke, absolutely brutal. It's the Smith Enterprise 5.56mm NATO Muzzle Brake. Similar in design to the mini Y Comp, but with more angles to direct concussion directly back and to the sides. Great brake, but a real pisser for you and those around you.
But i kinda like it! |
I have an Izzy comp on mine...at the range it's hated. Around me it causes eyes to flutter and twitch and is loud as hell. Might have something to do w/ the 14.5" Barrel as well...
Good brake, I don't think its as violent as the mini-y. I got bad vibrations from every bushy I had a mini Y on. the SEI is a fine piece, I think it would be great on full auto. but its also loud |
It is, very nasty even after 24 inches of barrel on my JP Ent upper. Damned thing redirects so much blast back at the shooter that in 10 years of owning my JP gun I have shot it without hearing protection exactly 2 times. First time was to see how bad it was, 2nd time was totally on accident and I cursed profusely afterwards. |
The micule will blow my Izzy out of the water every time. Although load, the Izzy is nothing compared to Jerrys monster. The JP is comparable but still not as loud.
The search continues.... |
I had the YHM 5M2 on my 11.5" and had to remove it in favor of the 5C1. The comp/brake was much too loud for me. I can't imagin what it would sound like on a 7.5".
Do you want the blast for everyone around you- to the sides only...etc...
I dont care if it hammers the shooter, I do want it to be more geared twords the crowd. Louder is better.

Ditto! It has quit a bit of boom. |

Rolling Thunder from Triangle Shooting Sports. Loud enough to sides to make bystanders jump back, and that is a 20" barrel. SBR? No telling. No impact on the shooter, just out to the sides.

Tromix Shark Brake- I just got one of these in .223 for my SBR build for the same reason- for all the poeple who think .223 has no power. |
I have the mini y comps on 2 carbines that I use for 3 gun competition. They aren't bad for the shooter, but the RO usually doesn't get too close.
I have a mini-y comp on my 16" FAL.
From what I hear it is pretty obnoxious. |
me too - you're the kind of guys I'd like to go shooting with...haha. |
nothing pisses off your neighbor at the range quite like a MINI-Y
My Miculek usually makes those next to me move over a few benches.
Of course, that's on a .308 |
who has a pic of there mini y? i can not place it but i'm thinkin i need one.
Mini-Y. Had one on my 16" carbine pre-ban. I actually had the range master leave his air-conditioned shack and come out to ask what the hell I was shooting once.
One shot without muffs and my ears were ringing for 30min. That thing was a beast. Post ban I replaced it with a Phantom and haven't looked back. If obnoxious is what you want, the mini-Y is it. |
Seems to be alot of mini Y fans, that great. SO, has anyone had a chance to shoot a Mini Y and the Miculek break side by side? I know the Miculek is the loudest I personally have heard, if someone has both please feel free to ring in. I would be willing to try a MINI Y if thats what the masses say is the way to go. 7.5 and a MINI Y or a Miculek, seems like a winning combination
My freind has a y comp on his mid length armalite holy shit is that thing loud even with ear plugs in. we were prarie dog hunting once and he sat up and to the left of me so that the holes in the y comp were
perfectly in line with my face, everytime he pulled the trigger it was like being hit in the face. so i would have to say if you want loud go with the y comp |
I had one for about ten minutes. I wear good ear protection but it was killing my hearing. I sold it on the EE, right where I got it from. Caveat emptor. |
I was going to say Y-Comp or JP's Tank Brake, but others have beat me to it.
Have this on my Bushy. It's louder than my CETME too. |
Mini Y Comp for sure.
I'd like to see a .50 with a scaled up y-comp. It'd be the most controllable 50 ever, with a report like hiroshima. |
I HAD a mini Y .... I hated and every one I shot with hated that fucking thing! But that last post .... I'm still laughing! Thats funny as hell....
why the need for the attention? not an insult, just a question.
