shoulda made a full hood
to elaborate: I use yWC rears cause they're the only (i think!) fully elevation adjustable folding ones out there. that way I can center my pri front hood in the rear circle ala HK. with a full hood, you could offer the same circle in circle aiming system. on the flip side,it does interfere with the sight picture more than a non hooded model, but that's why they flip down! |

Looks like it may have been influenced a bit by the KAC front flip gas block sight. Very nice regardless.

I was going to order one last weekend and post more pics for you guys, then it occurred to me, that ain't my job. I was, and still am curious about the little quarter-circular piece on the sight that appears to be a shield or protector for the round actuator, also from the angle of the existing pictures, and the description doesn't say, I can't tell if the sight is spring mounted, probably not.

Put one on a middie yesterday(no range report yet). Sorry about the pics, but I'm no _____________. (insert your favorite, Stickman, Mfingar,USMC03 etc.). Looks like a quality piece of gear, but I will be taking off at least one of the ridges that protects the locking button. Makes the deployment of the sight a real pain in the ass.
Fit and finish are good, but some tool marks can be detected, not a big deal for me. Looks like a nice alternative for those that like the KAC, but don't want to lay out that much money. I like it alot more than my Vltor. A trip to the range is all that's needed now. |

Thanks for the pics. I'll wait till they thin out the protective ears of the front sight, they look excessively thick.
Stick, rainierarms.com is something of an exception that it has professional grade pictures of products it sells. I'm sure you know that most sites have simple and rudimentary pictures for their products. I'm not sure the quality of the pictures is a determining factor for a customer to buy the product, price is more likely the first and most important consideration. Reputation of the vendor and, these days, availability, probably trump eye candy too. All the rep had to do was snap a simple picture and post it here, it doesn't need to go on their website. |

Good product but it does have a couple of issues. The sight needs the one protective ridge done away with (you're not going to accidently deploy it) The ears should be made thinner (as was suggested by another member). And I should recieve the first re-designed model for being the initial user/reviewer (wishful thinking),

Wow at first glance I really really liked it, especially since I'm trying to work out a way to get a KAC one put on my rifle. But the fact that there is not an option to get it "blank" on the bottom so I can have it pinned on and those huge ears that block the button to deploy it... I will pass. If they fix those two issues looks like it would be a big hit.

Is it made all of steel, aluminum or a mix of both. If the sight part is aluminum I can see why the ears are so thick. From the looks of it you can still have it pinned. I pinned an old yhm sight years ago that had the same set screw style mounting.

Why is everyone so keen on having flip-up front sights lock in the DOWN position? My personal favorite front sight is the GG&G FFS, which uses a non-locking detent to hold in the down position, but because it is not LOCKED, it is very quick to flip up when needed. It does lock in the deployed (up) position for obvious reasons. The only real drawback to it is the $200 price tag and factory install.
Make this one easier to deploy and I'm all over it! |

Gyrene, could you possibly take a pair of measurements? I'm needing the length from front to rear with the sight folded, and the height from the barrel to the forward-most (muzzle side) projection. Trying to see if this will work with my can setups. Nice rifle by the way!

I'm still around, I've just been spending more time in the WC industry forum. The sight does lock in the down position, and it is not spring loaded. It is all steel construction. I have sent up the line the suggestions that have been made here, and they will be considered for future models. Regarding pics, we try to present only professional quality photo's, and unfortunately, our inhouse photographer has been butt deep in work for the upcomng new website. I'm bugging him for more pics now
