If this is too "regular AR" for this thread because it's pinned & welded, lacks a spacer, and has a PSA "M4A1" lower, I'll definitely refrain from posting it here again:

Is the Marine Corps using the URG-I? I know whey were testing some a few years ago, but I have no idea if they're using some in any capacity or if they're sticking to their M4A1's and M27's

No.  They’re moving to the HK platform.  Raiders/force/marsoc, whatever they’re calling themselves these days just adopted an 11.5 HK platform.

People will correct me if ai’m wrong but I believe the only units using the URGI are USASOC, Rangers, some AFSOC guys attached to these, and PJs (but those guys adopted a 10.3 which isn’t an actual URGI I thought).

From my understanding only recon units are using 11.5 uppers on their 27 lowers. Marsoc has stated they had no intentions in adopting the 27 the last I heard.

Weren't these photos from the testing?

I know for a fact the corps was testing the geissele high speed selector and you can see it on the middle rifle in the picture I posted earlier.

i also may be mis remembering but I believe that the DD RIS III RED came from a Marine request.

Mk16 rails are now shipping with a steel swivel insert, are these being delivered to military as well or are clone correct models strictly going to be the earlier mk16 rails without the steel qd insert?

It wouldn't be safe to assume so until they are seen in the wild.

Likely that all of the MK16s have already been produced that are in the system for now. Could be that any made from now on will not have the sling swivel insert since it wasn't part of the original design but you never know.

Yes I personally believe this is the case.

The URGI program is a parts kit, not an upper, which was a one time deal to retrofit M4A1 uppers for USASOC only.  It's likely that all of these kits for the 14.5 and probably most or all of the 11.5 have been shipped to the Gov already.

The 10.5 MK16 rail for the 11.5 was decided on mid 2019ish, and this was the 2nd and last half of the project.  So I would be surprised if all of them for the contract haven't been delivered by now.

Now whether or not other units besides USASOC are currently procuring MK16 rails, complete Geissele uppers, or complete guns, remains to be seen.

But these are not part of the URGI contract, which I believe is complete.

Geissele now has the URG-I near clone 11.5" uppers and pistols in stock.

They are shipping with Geissele BCG's instead of the older mil-spec ones they used to come with.

They still have Geissele gas blocks on government profile barrels, not Geissele profile barrels.

Thank you for the replies! I'm whittling my collection down to USMC stuff, so it looks like I'll be selling my URG-I upper. I bought one from Geissele back in 2018 or whenever they had the original release of them. This was back when they came with the Mk12 gasblock that is extremely close to the inside of the rail. Has the old version of the SureFire 4 prong (no NSN) and it's not pinned/welded (none of my clone builds or original uppers have p/w). I've never shot it, so it's minty, I'll post a photo later to add to the thread. I assume whoever buys it will probably swap out the gasblock, which is extremely easy to do, since it doesn't have a p/w flash hider.

I have to replace this TV I'm using as a monitor for a real PC monitor.

I can't see any detail in pics.

My new 10.5" rail arrived and it does not have steel inserts in the QD holes.
