WASHINGTON – Two of President Barack Obama's economic heavyweights said middle-class taxes might have to go up to pare budget deficits or to pay for the proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system. The tough talk from Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and National Economic Council Director Lawrence Summers on Sunday capped a week that brought rare good news for the economy: The worst recession in the United States since World War II could be on the verge of ending. Even so, officials appeared willing to extend unemployment benefits. Geithner and Summers both sidestepped questions on Obama's intentions about taxes. Geithner said the White House was not ready to rule out a tax hike to reduce the federal deficit; Summers said Obama's proposed health care overhaul needs funding from somewhere. "There is a lot that can happen over time," Summers said, adding that the administration believes "it is never a good idea to absolutely rule things out, no matter what." |
|
He said a lot of things would not happen that I am afraid will come to pass....
Quoted: But, but, but, but, The One said he would not do that! |

But it's OK, because the Messiah said it is needed to help the lazy who don't want to work.

I don't know about that. I'm sure they've ruled out across the board Tax Cuts, absolutely, no matter what. |

This was encouraging....
Those jobs, though, are still elusive. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said the economy is slowly coming back and that he is "pretty sure we've already seen the bottom." "Collapse, I think, is now off the table. We were teetering for a while," he said. |
|
Did everyone really think they would get a trillion plus just by taxing the rich man another couple % or that China would twiddle their thumbs and let us print another trillion dollars?
The class is going to find out that the ice cream isn't free after all... |

Yeah Obama thought he's pump money into the economy, get us in debt, and it wouldn't be a problem. Soon his chickens are going to come home to roost and the long legged mac daddy thinks socking it to the middle class is the answer. What's really sad is some people I've talked to actually believe just because the president and his goons do these things there is actually a good reason otherwise it wouildn't be done.
|
|
So they are going to raise my taxes to make health care more affordable?
Talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul. Doublespeak at its best. |
|
This from the same administration that a month ago stated that it misread how bad the recession was.
Yeah, I'm just waiting for them to say "Oops, sorry, we were wrong again but it's all Bush's fault!" in six months. |
|
I`ve always found that borrowing money and decreasing my productivity has been a winner.
|
|
If anything, don't call it a tax increase, call it a pay decrease. You'll be working longer just to keep up, and all this is so some low life motherfucker can sit on their ass, do nothing, and vote for obama.

We have a rabid Obama suporter in our office. I just put a bottle of KY on his desk with a print out of this story.

Look, I'm not like the government who can print money whenever they need it - so how in the fuck am I supposed to pay more taxes?
I know, let's raise my taxes more (because local taxes haven't risen for most of us already right?) so that I can lower my quality of living even more. Then again, where do they expect me to pull this money from? My ass? Because I don't fucking have any more for taxes. |

There it is.... the first trial balloon, floated to see if anyone is paying attention.

Note it is taxes. Income Tax, employment tax, and energy taxes will all rise - before Income Tax was sacred and he was only aiming at the other 2.

'....could be on the verge of ending.' Talk about the BS these guys are feeding the masses. Let's face it: The economy will get better, but not anytime soon. |

I'm just about to tell the wife we need to quit our jobs.
Fuck it. Between all the sales taxes, state taxes, user fees, service fees, food taxes, federal income taxes, state income taxes, and all the other hands digging in my wallet we don't get shit to show for it. I'm tired of paying for everybody else that doesn't work or feels like riding on someone else's labor. |

Republican legislators need to introduce legislation that:
A. makes it a criminal offence, felony, to raise taxes on the bottom 95%, taxes of any kind. Punishment should be a year in prison for every person in the bottom 95% who paid any increased taxes per year those taxes remain in effect. (If 100 million bottom 95% people had their taxes raised for three years the prison term would be 300 million years. There could be 300 million individual trials for each such legislator.) B. makes it a civil offence to raise taxes on the bottom 95%, such that anybody who: introduces, votes for such tax raising legislation, works for such legislators, volunteers for such legislators, supports such legislation, lobby's for such legislation or legislators, votes for such legislators, contributes money to such legislators, writes or produces commercials or does poling for such legislators, etc has to pay for the full amount of those taxes and has to reimburse anyone from the bottom 95% who has paid any such taxes (with a keep whole provision such that the reimbursement includes compensation for any taxes, income taxes, expenses, etc. at the highest marginal tax rate). It won't pass but it needs to be before the public big time. Legislators, and their support needs to have their feet held to the fire if they violate campaign promises. |

Friends and I were debating about what the tax levels would have to get to in order to create massive non-payment and cival unrest. I guess now we should have passed out our numbers on slips so we can all watch the news and find out who wins.

So, as it stands now I pay literally double my mortgage payment per month in taxes. Fuck it, raise em some more.

If I have to pay extra taxes to support a scumbag's health benefits I should be allowed to drive down to the welfare office and punch some random asshole in the throat once a month.
