...at Loyola Chicago. She's speaking here tomorrow at 7 and for the past few weeks there have been poster wars, with the College Repubs putting up Coulter posters for the event and all the open minded campus greens/anti-war network/feminists/liberals etc. have been either tearing them down or writing "HATE SPEECH" all over them. During her speech there's even going to be a "counter demonstration" on one of the fields. Apparently they've got their undies all up in a bunch because the Student Activities Fund has paid (gasp!) $24,000 for her to come and "degrade" our university. But they weren't upset when Howard Dean and all the other random liberal politicians come and talk about "women's rights" etc. and use campus money for it....at a Catholic school. Not to mention the official "awareness weeks" we have here - "GLBT Awareness Week" etc.

I'm going, so I'll have an update later....should be good

UPDATE:

Well, she came, she spoke, she roused the rabble. Her talk was mostly about supporting Bush, hating on terrorists, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. She didn't say much about race relations or domestic policy. But people still were ALL kinds of pissed off. At the very beginning of her speech, all the Libtards that got in stood up and faced the back. There were chants from a bunch of girls like "Coulter can suck my cl*t" and so on. People were getting dragged/escorted out left and right. CPD was undercover inside as well. A word of advice: DON'T THROW A PUNCH A CHICAGO COP. They will jack you in the face (something I thoroughly enjoyed watching) and arrest you. There were protestors outside saying all the usual bull, every bush supporter is personally responsible for all the deaths in Iraq, blah, blah blah. When they finally figured out they weren't getting in I guess they started protesting the police and tried to rush in, and got pushed back out. There's gonna be major backlash for those people though, as this is a jesuit university, and the campus libs have really done themselves a disservice, at least in the eyes of the university. Stupid is a stupid does I guess.

I dont know why, But one there is one thing I really want to do before I die. I want to see a large protest Turn Violent. Heck maybe even participate by throwing stuff and running around screaming. Seems fun

Could you please be specific as to exactly what she says you find false or misleading?

And why should somebody cater their speech to people who probably aren't going to be convinced anyway? It is analogous to giving foreign aid to the Palestinians: why should we give money to people that hate us? They'll still hate us, and we'll be poorer. Why should we pay attention to those who hate us? Being nice to them only makes one look weak.

A moderate is a conservative who worries about what liberals think of him, and tailors his speech and actions accordingly. See also: "phony".

I'm not taking issue with the university/ student organization's choice in speakers. Our centers for higher education should be more balanced in their selection (equal "right" and "left" #'s of speaking engagements)(or a debate between equivalent size teams).

At the base of Coulter's arguments (underneath the antagonistic remarks) there is some merit. Some of what she argues is hard to ignore...it's her chosen manner that I disagree with.

An earlier poster slightly admonished me for giving Coulter hell when "She simply uses the same tactics that the libtards use. Which leaves her with all the charm and class of Al Gore"

she does nothing to further a political cause (in fact hinders it) when she opens that gaping cockholster of hers and says some of the things she has become famous for.

a close analogy, i made earlier is Howard Stern...a "shock jock" or "troll" someone whose substance (what's left anyway) is lost in the feeble attention whoring (caustic, antagonistic, fact-less, subjective remarks).

Most of the Republicans/conservatives I've spoken with that don't like Ann Coulter (the few I've found) seem to be one of three types. They are:

1. A RINO
2. Someone who doesn't like any kind of confrontation.
3. Someone who still thinks there's some hope of converting liberals/democraps with reasoable talk.
4. Someone who doesn't like her looks or her voice for some emotional reason.
Or,

5. A DU'er logged into an Arfcom troll account to stir up shit.
