It is now on American Movie Channel.

I was 14 years old and saw it when it was first released at the Port Theater in Port Arthur, Texas.

No one knew who James Bond was.

43 years ago.

I feel so old.

I was out to dinner with my g/f and some friends. He was talking about something that happened around the time the hostages were taken in Iran. I noticed her giving me a funny look and I said "You know when the hostages were taken by the Ayatollah in Iran in 1979?"
"I was 4."

With the exception of For YOUR EYES ONLY and MOON RAKER, all of the good James Bond movies were done by Sean Connery. One of the things that my dad did so insure that I grew up right was to make me watch James Bond movies. I now have them on DVD.

Funny,I remember that as if it was yesterday! My ol' man somewhat lived the Bond life as an airline pilot,back in the day when the stews were good looking. BTW,the AR-15 and James Bond just go together,something about that time.

Wasn't the one where he crosses the river by running across the back of crocodiles a Moore film?

If they'd done even HALF of what they did to the boats in that movie to a boat in real life it would have been permanently destroyed in seconds.

That was Live and Let Die, I like the Sheriff who was in that movie and Man With the Golden Gun. His name was like J. W. Pepper, I laugh my ass off everytime in that movie when he calls his brother with the fast boat and it turns out to be one of the bad guys who is black

Hrmph.

I was maybe 5 when they came back..but I do remember sitting off the side of 9W, when they drove past to Stewart, waving my small flag...something about going from West Point to Stewart...

Anyway, yah, I remember the whole thing, sorta

Oh, and ETA: I grew up with Roger Moore (first Bond movie, saw it in theaters with Mom: Octopussy; couldn't have been more than 7)...but upon reflection...Sean Connery has aces to Roger's Jack's.

Timothy Dalton COULD have done a great job...unfortunatly he was handed shit projects.

We won't get into George Lazenby's portiral. That movie has so much potential...sigh.

Pierce Brosnan has a lot of the charm and wit, but...the movies themselves are lacking, and are lately mostly gimmick-driven, which is pretty sad

I mean he does have his moments as Bond...but...a lot of the honesty is gone. It started (the downtrend) with Lazenby, and while Moore tried, it totally ended when Dalton took the reigns. Now it's just this franchise...

I read a article once that the guy that Q was based on want Flemming to give Bond a S&W.357 mag. But Flemming thought it was to big and heavy for Bond.

In the book Bond was offered his choice of the PPK or the .38 S&W snubbie "which the CIA swears by" (again according to Q). I don't recall if that made it into the movie (it's been awhile since I saw Dr No.)

Okay. I am poor right now but......

In 1998, my then girlfriend bought me all the James Bond series in letterbox (Widescreen for you youngins) up to the latest at that time but they are in VHS. I'm still keeping them.

They are way cooler in wide version and every now and then, I'll have my own marathon. I also have the last one on DVD.

Bond Rocks!

Thunderball is almost my favorite.

"That shotgun is for a woman, isn't it?"
"Oh, you know about guns, Mr. Bond?"
"No. But I know about women..."
