Released in 1962.
It is now on American Movie Channel. I was 14 years old and saw it when it was first released at the Port Theater in Port Arthur, Texas. No one knew who James Bond was. 43 years ago. I feel so old. |
The original Sean Connery Bond films are classics. Thats when James Bond really had CLASS.

I like the double-entendres, like when he's in bed with some girl and Q calls. He says, "I can't talk, something big has come up." He thinks so anyway.
Only Sean Connery is really James Bond. |
At least the James Bond character never ages. |

I was out to dinner with my g/f and some friends. He was talking about something that happened around the time the hostages were taken in Iran. I noticed her giving me a funny look and I said "You know when the hostages were taken by the Ayatollah in Iran in 1979?"
"I was 4." Please bring my walker around dear.... |

A very good year, the year I was born.
Old_Painless, you misspelled her name. It was Ursula She has to be one of the finest BOTD's that ever walked this planet. |
And that, my friends, is one of the many difference between me and old James. |

I remember that is what we actually called her. She is still alive, somewhere. I'd prefer not to see her nowadays. |

As James would say, "Just so." |
OH YEA! Back when women looked like Women and not boney twigs |
When I first saw her in the shower scene, I almost fainted. |
Wasn't the one where he crosses the river by running across the back of crocodiles a Moore film?
If they'd done even HALF of what they did to the boats in that movie to a boat in real life it would have been permanently destroyed in seconds. |

That old boy slays me. "It's all right, Pepper, he's a secret agent." "Secret agent! On whose side?!" Classic. |

ETA: OMG THEY BLEW UP THE MODEL OF THE PLANT WITH TANNERITE!!! |
Hrmph. I was maybe 5 when they came back..but I do remember sitting off the side of 9W, when they drove past to Stewart, waving my small flag...something about going from West Point to Stewart... Anyway, yah, I remember the whole thing, sorta Oh, and ETA: I grew up with Roger Moore (first Bond movie, saw it in theaters with Mom: Octopussy; couldn't have been more than 7)...but upon reflection...Sean Connery has aces to Roger's Jack's. Timothy Dalton COULD have done a great job...unfortunatly he was handed shit projects. We won't get into George Lazenby's portiral. That movie has so much potential...sigh. Pierce Brosnan has a lot of the charm and wit, but...the movies themselves are lacking, and are lately mostly gimmick-driven, which is pretty sad I mean he does have his moments as Bond...but...a lot of the honesty is gone. It started (the downtrend) with Lazenby, and while Moore tried, it totally ended when Dalton took the reigns. Now it's just this franchise... |
But he and Ursula Undress got away. Again! |
Let's see if Dr. No falls for the same trick again! |
Count the Chevy Caprices in Live and Let Die,you'll lose count!!!!
Yuck! Those broads are old! |
+1......I love the scene where the armorer and M are taking his Berretta Jet fire .25 away and giving him a........380 Walter PPK I read a article once that the guy that Q was based on want Flemming to give Bond a S&W.357 mag. But Flemming thought it was to big and heavy for Bond. |
That's a BIG negative - get off the Mary Jane... The PPK was 7.65 (.32ACP -Forest (who's dad also instilled in him a love for James Bond movies). Edited to change the 2 to a 5 |
7.65? |
You're only as old as the woman you feel. |
I stand corrected......by the bigger Bond geek |
Yes it should be 7.65, I'll fix it. |
I was 6, and my family went to the drive-in to see it. Don't remeber too much, but I remember most of Goldfinger.
HH |
Did someone up there claim that Moonraker was a good Bond movie?
Seemed to me they were just trying to get onto the Star Wars bandwagon. NTM |
Okay. I am poor right now but......
In 1998, my then girlfriend bought me all the James Bond series in letterbox (Widescreen for you youngins) up to the latest at that time but they are in VHS. I'm still keeping them. They are way cooler in wide version and every now and then, I'll have my own marathon. I also have the last one on DVD. Bond Rocks! Thunderball is almost my favorite. "That shotgun is for a woman, isn't it?" "Oh, you know about guns, Mr. Bond?" "No. But I know about women..." Cracks me up... |
James Bonds first appearnce in Dr. No is one of the best scenes ever.
Tuxedo Cigarette Casino. My name is Bond, James Bond......'cues music' |
Yes sir, James (Jimmy) Bond is one cool dude!!!!!......
Only his close friends get to call him Jimmy btw..... |
