I just came back from seeing this movie.
First of all, it is not the same as the previous five! Sure the special effects were great but thats it. This movie was very dark, Not like the other five that was filled with alot of relief humor witch made them alot of fun. This movie was made with a apparent political agenda! |
Elaborate, please. <--wasn't planning on seeing it, but is curious.... |
You know all this political agenda in Star Wars..
It's a movie....if people want to turn it into something, then let them...but it's still just a movie. This reminds me of the people who see the virgin Mary on a piece of toast.....you can make yourself believe anything you want if you try hard enough. |
he is referring to the bushisms contained in the film. Such as
Padme -'this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause'. Obi Wan - [throwing down his blaster] "so uncivilized". Meaning guns are bad. Annakin- if you are not with me, then you are my enemy [sound familiar?] |
Coincidence? Mary on a piece of toast? I think not, God loves Bread, it is all over the Bible!!!! Bread and religion are closely knit, thats why there is no bread in Star Wars. |
I dissagree. The movie fit the story that started 20+ years ago. I have seen several stories trying to draw parallels between the movie and current politics but I have avoided every one. |
Yea right If it just a movie explain why MoveOn.org is using it as a vehicle for political attacks. Lucas has admitted as much. |
Lucas wrote those lines before Bush said them, at least that was what he told reporters. |
Obi Wan said things of the same effect in ANH. Doesn't mean nothin' |
It was a cheese sammich. |
Just a movie? What was 'Bowling for Columbine?'
Movies can have a huge effect on the political landscape. Those who think otherswise are a little out of touch. |
I just love hearing how a scifi movie has a political agenda! Did bigfoot tell you this? |
Yes, Bowling for Columbine was a Political statement, but it was intended to be from the start. I don't think when George Lucas made Star Wars in the 70's that he was trying to make a political statement....he was trying to make a good movie. |
It was so disappointing that you needed a whole new thread? Other than the 5 others currently running on the subject??
There MAY be another message-
When the population lives in fear they give TOO much power to the government in the name of safety, and in the end they destroy their own liberty and are ruled by fear. Think about it! |
Out of touch? Now thats funny! Movies can effect the the political landscape, but suggesting a scifi film is doing it, is just flat out hillarious! Lets look at the examples given: Padme -'this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause'. So this has some magical connection to what? It did happen to fit hte scene very well. Remember its a SCIFI MOVIE. Obi Wan - [throwing down his blaster] "so uncivilized". Meaning guns are bad. Compared to a light saber, yes. I read it as "lame when compared to a light saber!". Again, SCIFI MOVIE. Annakin- if you are not with me, then you are my enemy [sound familiar?] Yes it does. But so did the wookie swinging on a vine and sounding like tarzan. OH NO! Must be plot to over throw the jungle men govt! The fact is I can go through just about any movie find things that relate to everyday life. But remember its more about what you want to find then what is actually there! CH |
That is exactly how the liberals are trying to do it................ |
Some of you guys think that Lucas wrote these movies word for word back the 70's. Lucas has said that he wrote the backstory before any of the movies came out. Ok, but... What book is translated word for word into a movie? (Lord of the Rings- the glaringly obvious example of this)
Movies, TV shows, and commercials are all, very subtly and quietly, putting out political, racial, and social ideas, which when we watch them, consider them to be the norm. (Black people dominating white people in social interactions, homosexual behavior portraid as cute and funny, liberal *values* better than conservative values) Anways, I'm not too sure the new star wars movies, seeing as how they are huge money making ventures, and with an audience of millions, would'nt have any messages. A book is very, very different than a screenplay. The screenplay wasn't written in the 70's, only the backstory. And that was probably changed too, to fit the times and make the movie more children friendly(to make more $ of course). |
i swear.....all the Star Wars nerds crack me up......the last two movies SUCKED...what made any of yall think this one was gonna be different? i didnt see the last two in theatres...and i'll wait for this one to come out on DVD also, just like the other ones....that way i dont have to fight the masses of idiots in costumes waving around plastic swords and making wookie sounds. these movies get WAAAAY too much hype........like you said..the only thing worth a shit in em is the special effects. w/ the making of these last 3 movies.......a classic trilogy was taken...and butchered.
sounds like a bunch of Republicans have a guilty concious or something... |
Fact… Lucas has encourage the view this movie makes anti-Bush statements, no matter when he SAYS he wrote the script… and has done nothing to discourage the Lefts use of the movie for political attack. Once again… MoveOn.org is linking their political attacks to this movie… Lucas is silent on this and thereby gives approval. |
Sounds like the is ever vigilant. |
Or a toilet flushed somewhere. |
Fact? OK, Links? reference? Proof? Please correct me. Lucas not speking out means what? SO if I dont speak out against somthing I automatically approve it? That is some funny ass shit! CH |
CNN reports:
So Lucas is another liberal Hollywood nitwit, just like Harrison Ford. Is anyone really surprised? |
Where have you been the last month? And yes if someone uses your work and you do not speak out that IS approval. Here some of it is… but I am sure you will find a way to excuse it. www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1403944/posts

Um...if you're getting (or giving for that matter) your political views from Darth Vader and Yoda you have other issues.
Honestly, I'm pretty sure that considering Lucas' involvement in this movie, the political statements will be the least of its problems. Are we not comfortable enough with our own views that a CGI character, or a muppet, is really that threatening? No. It's a crime what he's done to Star Wars anyway, so just add this to that list. |
From the very beginning, the Empire has been tied to Nazi Germany. Isnt that how Hitler came to power? By the people voting to give him control?
Not according to Lucas:
huh? i wasnt talking about when it was written. The way the Empire is presented in the 1st movies...the uniforms, they all had accents, the all powerful Empire/Reich.
damn people stop reading to much into shit and sit back and enoy the movie.
anyone who saw this movie should have picked up LIFE on their way home.
That is the key right there. JUst like the average liberal mindset to stretch a comment as far as you can. Sounded like means left up to ones interpretation. When doing so there is no facts, there is no basis, just your take on the issue. My take is just as it reads, it sounded like. Does not mean it is. Seaman sounds like what comes out of my dick, but its not. CH |
If I think about it hard enough, I could draw parallels of the Bush adminstration to Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie.
wow sounds like a real stretch to me. So something he wrote durring vietnam is mean to insult bush? Cant say i see the connection. This was all written before Iraq, back when people liked bush.
I thought Lucas stole the story from a writer in the 60's? Wasn't there a big frickest about the original Star Wars was lifted wholesale?
Ben hands Luke the saber. LUKE: What is it? BEN: Your fathers lightsaber. This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or as random as a blaster. Luke pushes a button on the handle. A long beam shoots out about four feet and flickers there. The light plays across the ceiling. BEN: An elegant weapon for a more civilized time. For over a thousand generations the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times, before the Empire. |
The "Star Wars" movies are obviously filled with political symbolism.
Remember the scene in "Return of the Jedi" where Luke looks at Darth Vader when he's talking to him? That means that COMMUNISM SUCKS! hinking.gifAnd the scene where Darth Vader cut off Luke's hand? That's allegorical for how gas prices are high. The Ewoks represent how the Viet Cong were so hairy and cute and lived in tree houses. |
Yes, I reamember. Luke found out what his fater was about and hated him for it. Don't forget the , "It's a trap Jap" alien and how Luke kissing his sister was a direct reference to the Patty Hurst kidnaping. |
C-3P0 being gay was a direct reference to the Cuban Missle Crisis. I cant believe no one GOT that.
Put your money where your mouth is, Do it! |
Hasn't anyone even notice that GL changed the name of the bad guys from the Empire to the Republic!
