Iran's promise: '80 seconds of hell'

Sunday, September 5, 2004

Let's begin by looking at some facts.

On Saturday, June 26, only a few weeks ago, two security guards at the
Iranian U.N. Mission were expelled from the United States, and allowed to
sneak back to Tehran. The State Department says that they were "engaged in
activities inconsistent with their duties." Sure. They were spies.

The pair had been observed by the FBI for months moving around Manhattan
videotaping landmark buildings and other infrastructure. It took an alert
transit police officer to arrest them when he saw them taking video images
on the subway tracks. They claimed diplomatic immunity and were not charged
with any crime.

In Tehran, as August began, the Islamic Republic's supreme guide Ali
Khamenei, was answering questions from a hundred or so Islamic guidance
officials, home from foreign postings for retraining. Most of his answers
were trite slogans, but when he was asked, "Is our Islamic Republic at war
against the United States," he paused before replying. "It is the United
States that is at war against our Islamic Revolution."

However, Khamenei's own newspaper was even more direct. Writing this July,
it said, "the White House's 80 years of exclusive rule are likely to become
80 seconds of hell that will burn to ashes. Those who resist Iran will be
struck from directions they never expected."

To these facts add that an Arab newspaper published in London and Beirut
reported that an Iranian intelligence unit has established a center called
"The Brigades of the Shahids of the Global Islamic Awakening," controlled by
a Revolutionary Guards intelligence officer, Hassan Abbasi. The newspaper
has a tape recording of Abbasi when he spoke of Iran's secret plans, which
include "a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon
civilization."

Missile strikes

To bring this about, Abbasi said, "There are 29 sensitive sites in the U.S.
and in the West. We have already spied on these sites and we know how we are
going to attack them." This Revolutionary Guard officer continued by saying,
"Iran's missiles are now ready to strike at Western targets, and as soon as
the instructions arrive from Ali Khamenei, we will launch our missiles at
their cities and installations."

These are facts. Now let's consider the information coming in from Iraq
where, day after day, our troops are being killed.

Most of the killing is now being done by Muslim militia -- Shi'ite Muslims
-- in the cities of Fallujah, Mosul and Najaf. This militia appears to have
some loyalty -- but not much -- to the Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, but
he is equally obviously not their paymaster.

The militias need weapons, ammunition, gas for their vehicles, food, water
and everything else to fight the Iraqi police and our military. Just
remember that these are Shi'ites. The Iranians, just over the border are
also Shi'ites. So we needn't be surprised to learn that the word on the
streets of Baghdad and Tehran is that they are providing millions of dollars
every month for the "hot" war against the Americans.

The Iranian Shi'ites have during the past few weeks established relations
with the Kurds in the north of Iraq and with the main Arab Sunni rebel group
led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. And, every alliance is cemented with dollars.

25-year war

Iran has been at war with the United States since the mullahs ousted the
shah's forces in 1979.

Iran's war against the United States has gone on for 25 years. It is past
time that the ayatollahs, mullahs and imams begin to understand that there
are limits to our tolerance and that our military might is by no means
exhausted?

That February in 1979, the Revolutionary Guards invaded 27 U.S. listening
posts in Iran that had been set up to monitor Soviet rocket tests. The posts
were closed and our guys expelled.

That was enough for Democrat Jimmy Carter. He sent a wonderful letter to the
Ayatollah Khomeini, praising him as "a man of God." And, in a show of
goodwill, Carter lifted the ban he had imposed on arms exports to Iran.

A few days later, the Revolutionary Guards raided our embassy in Tehran and
seized our diplomats as hostages for a year and a half. In April 1980,
Carter tried a military rescue attempt, which ended in disaster with more
Americans being killed.

Since then Iran has created one disaster after another. The Marine barracks
in Beirut with 241 U.S. Marines killed, some 30 U.S. hostages taken in
Lebanon, the torture-killing of the CIA's Middle Eastern chief and the
generalized support of all America's enemies.

On July 27, Iranian Member of Parliament Hamid-Reza Katoziyan told a
television audience "Muslims living in the U.S. are currently, in my
opinion, in a special situation. Perhaps they do not walk the streets with
weapons or attach bombs to themselves to carry out a suicide operation, but
the thought is there."

And, one last fact: The 9/11 commission in its report poses a question,
"September 11 was a day of unprecedented shock. The nation was unprepared.
How can we avoid such a tragedy again?"

The answer has to be obvious. Ensure that Iran does not have the opportunity
to make a first-strike against the U.S. and that Iran stops attempting to
make Iraq a colony.

If we would nuke Iran we would use B2s. Iran really doesnt want to find what a B2 full of nukes can do.

They strike with a missile or use terrorists with any form of weapon over here that kills thousands with one punch and I guarantee there will be boys coming out of the woods and lynching/shooting/chopping off heads of anyone who remotely looks like they're from the middle east.

What has suprised me over the past few years is that we never hear of any muslim over here speaking out against this.  If I was a muslim in the US I would fear for my life, because if we were nuked or something of the sort they might as well commit suicide, because what some pissed off Americans are going to do to them is going to be much worse.

That truly does sound like a declaration of war.  Where, in the past, I was against "pre-emptive" striking, I am no longer.  We are in strange and terrible times, and must act accordingly.  The time to act is now, and John Kerry ain't the man.

WTF? What missiles are they talking about? Unless they have subs with short range missiles that can be nuke armed, I find it highly unlikely that they have anything land based that can reach us.

So what exactly is he referring to when he says that?

The Chinese and Russians aren't gonna launch jack shit at us unless we attack them. They aren't gonna go to war and face annihilation over freaking Iran! Let's face it. Nobody in the world gives a rat's ass about Iran. The same goes for North Korea. That's why they are both constantly jaw boning and acting like morons.

If Iran wants a giant thermonuclear supository shoved up their ass, just let them try to pull something on us.  The fact they are talking shit like this while operating a nuke plant (with the potential to build nukes soon), while Israel and the US is taking careful note isn't the brightest thing in the world to be doing. But we are talking about Iran afterall. Those people have never been known for their wit. That is unless you consider the wit in nitwit close enough to count.

Their missile claims are pointless to everyone except Israel. They do intend to use them on the Jews. Make no mistake about it. The mullahs have to go and soon.

If they do use nukes on us it will be another false flag operation like all the other small ones they've pulled off that we've ignored and they would come aboard a ship, commercial airplane, etc. anyway.

This islamist crap will last years unless there is an accidental flashpoint (which has happened a few times in history). Welcome to the new reality (sucks don't it?).

Lets just be sure we don't offend the UN or France or anything while we try to avoid a devastating terrorist attack

As I have feared for a very long time. I go to work every day in an American city where the vast majority of the women you see on the streets are wearing headscarves or full Burkas. The mosque here is enormous. I see the anger and hatred and anger in their eyes. I agree with this Iranian's statement 100%! THE THOUGHT IS THERE!!!

You guys DO realize that the Ayatollah does NOT speak for his people, right?

And although I can here the 'where is the outcry?' line coming, it doesn't apply here....

IRAN is the one country where there has been resistance.

The problem is how their government is constructed...

You see, Iran is a titular democracy -> they have an elected prime minister and legislature

That body, up untill the last election, was composed of a majority of anti-Islamist[/u[ candidates.

However, the Supreme Court & an overriding 'Supreme Council' are both controlled by the mullahs.

They have, of course, resisted all attempts at reform/secularization which were enacted by the elected government. Think of it as what would happen if there were 9 of Justice Ginsberg on the USSC, but about 9x worse.

If you look at GW's 'Axis of Evil' state-of-the-union, he mentions how the 'Iranian govermment resists the will of it's people'. This is what he's referring to.

The mullahs are presently engaged in an extreme game of 'let's push our luck'. Not only are they persuing nuclear weapons, but they are continuing to push their people down, in a manner reminicent of the government that they replaced in a rather violent popular revolution. The last 'offense' was disqualifying most of the anti-Islamist candidates in the last election. Basically, it would be like banning Republicans from running for office here.

This is a unique situation over there -> the Iranian people HAVE overthrown their government (no other country in the region has had a POPULAR revolution, and current signs are that they will likely do it again.

There is only one thing that will stop them: if we intevene. You see, the average Iranian most certainly does not hate America - government sponsored demonstrations aaide... But IF we intervene in their internal affairs, that will be a bonanza for the hardliners...

An example of this is the reaction to Bush's speech... The caveat of criticizing the appointed mullahs, not the elected government went right over their heads, and their elected anti-Islamist leader lashed out at us for calling his country part of the 'Axis of Evil', despite the fact that the speech was supposed to be in SUPPORT of him...

Something to think about, WRT Iran...

I will agree 100% with Dave_A on this issue…

I worked with and for the Iranian and they are sick to the back teeth of this whole Islamic Revolution. The people are very western in outlook and actively want a truly secular democracy. Many Iranians regard the Israeli government as a model of how they would like their country run…

BTW, they are not arabs… they actually quite despise the arabs, their country and culture dates back thousands of years before the Arabs got the RoP®

I hear that often.
But, the fact is the fuckers in Iraq are coming from Iran.
I'm not quite convinced, Iran isn't the problem.
I worked with a 22 yr old girl at the time of the Sept 11 attack. Her take on the situation was; "Of course I have to side with my Muslim brothers".  I told her she could go fuck herself, and she could keep comments like that to herself.  This was coming from an Iranian who moved here, TO AMERICA,  with her family after their home was bombed during the war. Fuck them.

This is a unique situation over there -> the Iranian people HAVE overthrown their government (no other country in the region has had a POPULAR revolution, and current signs are that they will likely do it again.

Dave and Andy, you both are very correct on the Iranian situation.  I just hope that the current  Govt there will get overthrown before they possess nukes or get close and we have to act.  I prefer we clandestinely get involved and help let the Iranian population  remove the Mullahs.  A direct assualt will cause the Iranian people most likely to rally around the Mullahs, which is not in our best interests, the Mullah's know this too!

War is not the answer. Peace is. Islam just wants to live in peace. America, with all it's excesses, is the problem. It's time we point the finger back at ourselves.

Any US nuclear attack would be a cataclysmic world event.  We must never go there.  Russian or Chinese nukes would probably fly on US targets.  This is no joke.

Yeah… right…

Russians would be quite happy to sit it out, and presumably the Chinese would threaten the US and UK with ALL 18 of it's ICBM's? …………ooooh! so scary!

You assume they will wait untill they know where the missiles are going....

Not launch as soon as their satilites pick up a bird in flight...

Which is why, more than likely, we would use aircraft delivered nukes if it came to that.

If they do use nukes on us it will be another false flag operation like all the other small ones they've pulled off that we've ignored and they would come aboard a ship, commercial airplane, etc. anyway.

Good point RustyTX,

Israel has long suspected that an attack on them would be with a warhead delivered by a civil airliner rather than a missle.
