I think (with few execptions) that most people that own guns and understand what the Second Amendment is REALLY about that call themselves "democrats" really have very little in common with what the Democratic Party SAYS democrats should be.

Hang out in the AR-specific forum. Little or no politics there.

The General Discussion forum trends conservative/libertarian. That's just how the chips fall. Being "welcome" or not has little to do with it.

The idea that a Democrat would actually own an AR-15 never crossed my mind!

We're all democratic, but I would venture to guess that we're not all Democrat.  Anyone is welcome here as long as they want to talk about guns, the movie Heat, MARPAT, and just about anything else.  Just be prepared for some ribbing if someone doesn't like what you post.  It's give and take so just have thick skin and don't wear your feelings on your sleeve.

Personally, I can't understand why anyone would be a registered Democrat anymore.  People are entitled to their own beliefs, but I just don't understand liberals and why anyone would align themselves with the Democratic party as it is today.  If it changes (yeah right) I may change my mind.

Welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay.

Sure they are.  But you're in the GENERAL DISCUSSION forum, and most of us have been convinced that the Democrats would very much like to see America disarmed.  And it's an election year, you know?  What else would you expect to see?

If you'll note, there's an AR-15 forum, an AK-47 forum, a Handgun forum, and an Armory forum for firearm discussions.  Under General, there's a reloading forum, tactics, etc.

So...  what was your point?

FWIW I will not be voting for Bush this election.

I was ready to gotto war FOR the man during the last election debacle.  Unfortunately his stance on illegal immigration has turned me off so bad I cannot even describe how mad I am about it.

YES........ I understand the implications of future SCOTUS nominees,  district judgeships,  possible new gun control under Kerry etc, etc.......

I just don't care,  I will NOT have my vote taken for granted.

Let the flames begin.......

As has already been stated, any liberal ideas you decide to post in GD will be promptly shredded by the overwhelming numbers of Conservatives here.

But see that's the difference. We will argue with you, we will talk to you and we will engage in the discussion. We will not ban you and kick you out, however.   Try posting conservative or Republican ideals on DU and see what happens !

If you post on non-political topics or things specifically gun related, I think you'll find this place to be one of the greatest resources on the net.

Well, speaking as a Democrat with a pathologically high post count, I must say that the question you asked is monumentally stupid. Nobody cares what party you're registered with. However, as I hope this reply makes clear, poor reasoning or a casual attitude toward facts will likely draw sharp responses.

Better luck in the future.

Pres. Bush has only made legal certain types of immigration. Basically he has relieved some of the problems of the INS and the department of Homeland Security. He made it so people who try to escape poverty and want to work can. I can't believe that you would change your vote like that. Imagine if your ancestors had been denied entrance into the US because they looked for a better life and were willing to work for it.

He's said he'll sign it if it comes across his desk.......  I don't like that, FWIW, even though I know it's just petty politics, rhetoric, etc - a way to appear moderate w/out actually doing anything about that.

I'm registered as a elephant,  But I fall into the middle ground.

Both parties have thier good idea's and thier bad ones.

I'm pro-choice on the abortion stance.
I'm for stem cell research.
I'm for the WOT, and the the liberation of Iraq.
I'm against having a POTUS who will bend over to pacify the EU and the UN.
I'm against sitting around and letting terrorists walk over us.
I'm against many weapons bans.
I'm against the govt telling everybody how to live their lives,  Both party's have done this.
I'm against turning the US into a socialist system of govt.

I refuse to vote jackass because of the attacks made on the 2nd.   They challenge everybody's rights to firearms everytime they get a little power and I cannot ignore that.   I'd vote for Nader before Skerry.

I vote for which team I have the most in common with,  Sofar the Reps are the winners of my votes.

We are all Democratic here, do you mean Democrat?
Even Republicans are "Democratic" our form of government is a "Constitutional Republic" but basicaly we are democratic.

I just don't care for most Democrats.  Their platform and policies will be the ruin of this Nation.
They want bigger government, more taxes, less freedom and basicaly no personal responsibility, it is always someone or somethings fault.

The Democrats like John Kennedy was and Zell Miller is are fine, I'm sure I would disagree with them on some domestic issues.  I don't agree with George Bush on every issue either, but he is a great man and the leader we need for the next four years.  Democrats are welcome here, hell we even change a few now and again.

God Bless you and God Bless the United States of America.

This was stated by a gun control advocate.  He seems to have a better grasp of reality than some of you.

"If George W. Bush truly wants an assault weapons ban, as he has led the public to believe, then he should aggressively fight for it, as he had done with other issues of importance to him," said Joshua Horwitz, executive director of the Coalition to Stop Violence, a group fighting for renewal of the ban.

Gee, if this moron seems to get it, why don't some of the Bush bashers on this board seem to understand it?

Personally, I don't see how a gun owner can remain a dem unless they believe the "sporting purpose" bullshit espoused by the likes of Kerry and don't care about EBR owners.  They don't realize that their "sniper" rifles (any rifle with a scope) would be next.

That is my gamble.....I am willing to take the chance.
