While going through old family pics, from before I was born, I saw one of my dad on a tractor that he had borrowed from a neighbor. It just had the guys first name, which is the same as mine.  I asked my mom if she needed to tell me anything, but she said no.

Chinese-Filipino with a Spanish spelling of Sun-Yen: Suonllen.  Nice guy, good engineer.  I had no problem with name once I understood the origin.  Confused the hell out other Chinese!

My late wife managed restaurants and she had an unfortunate Black girl working for her whose legal first name was Treblinka.  Not sure if parents were Nation of Islam or just ignorant.  She was humiliated and used a nickname.

My dad had a fraternity buddy with the last name Hymen.
Went by Buster, even after college.
