I shot a Chinese SKS barrel out once. Me & my brother. Back when you could get a NIB SKS and 2 tins of ammo for $129. Burned the hand guard several times, wallowed out the chu wood stock. Used to bump fire it a bunch, then throw it in the creek. Never missed a beat. Turned into a parts gun. No pics, circa 1988.

I'll also admit I've never shot a barrel out....... I have "upper" ADD. I've had probably 12 setups in the last few years, but dislike shooting AR's in general, so it doesn't see much use. Occasionally I'll use it in a match (which sucks because SBR), but other than that, it's bolt rofl time.

Depends on the ammo, luckygunner wrecked some AR's at 8-10k with steel Combloc Wolf shit, but the copper jacketed stuff was still GTG at that round count. My 3 gun BCM is around 11k and is still fine. |

Lessee. I'm a benchrest guy and varmit shooter.
.220 Swift, started out with a 26" stainless bull barrel, had it set back and rechambered once, then went with a new barrel. It's has about 1K rounds left before I replace it again. 22-250, long enough to set back and rechamber 3 times, it's ready for a replacement. 6mm/284, twice, blued barrel the first time. It's just about ready for #3. 25/06, bought it used and shot it for a season, needs a new barrel now but I think I'm going to dump the caliber, probably barrel it in a .270 Ackley. All are bolt guns. I don't need an auto to wear out barrels.

My dad used his Colt hbar for everything from 1989 to about 2008. From 2013 onwards, we both shot monthly three gun with the same rifle. My best guess is that it has 12-15K rounds down the pipe. It's not as accurate as he says it used to be, but I'm guessing that has to do with his poorer eyesight. I got roughly the same accuracy with it and my first AR, a lightly used Colt A2 with a government profile barrel. Both rifles are pretty much identical except for barrel profile, and both group 2 MOA at 100 yards with 75 grain prvi partisan with five shot groups.
