So in this thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1725337_Biscuit_and_gravy.html Justice23 wanted to know how to make biscuits and gravy. I'm off today and have not made biscuits and gravy in a long time so I ran by the store last night.
Yeah I'm not making biscuits by scratch. Brown the sausage meat. Remove the sausage after browning. Leave the grease in the pan. Not much grease left to work with so I added some olive oil and butter. Use real butter. Throw that margarine stuff in the garbage. Toss in three big table spoons of flour. Keep the stuff moving in the pan. Make sure no lumps in your flour. Add salt, pepper and milk. I add milk, stir, let it thicken, add more milk till I build up enough gravy to add the sausage back in. Biscuits are done. Bust open the biscuits, slab of butter on each side, add the sausage gravy, pepper and jelly if you like. OD Glock 19 Gen 3 is the best 9mm About 45 minutes start to finish. My tummy is full, the Mrs is still in bed, think i will go back to sleep now. |

Good job bro, add some Bomber's Hot Sauce and I'm really digging it.

Yep. Now I'm hungry. I cheap out and use those biscuits too usually. And use bacon grease instead of the olive oil.
Looks good. |
|
I use bacon grease in place of oil and butter. Otherwise, that's exactly how I make it.

10/10; good ole fashioned breakfast.
Reminds me of my Army days, when it would be either Biscuits and gravy or shit on a shingle with a couple cups of coffee before heading out to do Uncle Sam's bidding on post. I miss those days, sometimes... |

Excellent post!
Pretty much the same way I make 'em! I have never seen biscuits in a bag! Wish they sold them like that here! I always have to buy 2 of the tubes for my biscuits and gravy. |
|
See people, it's not that hard. Made like this is better than any of that mix or canned or whatever bullshit, too.
|
|
I've never seen the Grands in a bag like that. Are they supposed to be better than the ones in a can?
|

Damn that's nice. Way to go bud.
Biscuits and Gravy are the one Southern thing that has completely grown all over me. It's one of my favorite things to eat. Unfortunately they make me fat so I have to eat them sparingly. |

Looks good, I would eat the shit out of that! But alas...I cant...Damn diet!

View Quote Made from scatch and rolled out is best, made from scatch and dropped is second, frozen raw dough is third, refrigerated biscuits from a can aren't really biscuits to me. Angel biscuits made with yeast could go anywhere depending on who makes them. |

One day I will have to try this southern thing called sausage and biscuits
|
|
Looks great!
I do almost the exact same method I just never remove the meat from the skillet and I melt some cheese into the gravy |
|
I love biscuits and gravy. I always just add the flour to the browned meat and rely on the fat from the meat. Sometimes I'll make it for dinner with ground beef and fried eggs and potatoes.
