These people have to be on drugs

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/01/26/top-wh-adviser-obama-to-offer-practical-proposals-but-ready-to-bypass-congress/

He argued against criticism that the president has a failing economic policy that has resulted in record-level poverty and lower average household incomes.

Pfeiffer said the administration is still trying to climb out of the recession it inherited in 2009, and pointed out that the national unemployment rate is now at 6.7 percent.

“We are making progress,” he told Fox News.

But unemployment payments are still it high demand.

The real unemployment rate is much higher.   Look at the number of people who have given up looking for work.

Quit blaming Bush.  Obama owns this economic mess.

Can you say "impeachment?"

Obamacare is still a failure.

Benghazi.

IRS scandal.

Spying on US citizens.

I don't know what the real number is but it has to be around 25% for people who are in the working age group. Funny how they never count the FSA in those numbers.

Among other criteria which negates their being included in the count.

The Obummer regime constantly pulls obfuscations out of it's collective ass...and their willing propagandists in the media lend them credibility.

I'm gonna guess that upwards of 20% of people are now unemployed. 40% if you include those under-employed.

Does it matter?

Obama could murder a child on Live National Television with R.I.P. bullets and people would blame Bush.

He can fail all he wants, people will continue to support him.

All one needs to do is look at the worker participation rate to know the 6.7% unemployment figure is BS.

Link Posted: 1/26/2014 1:58:13 PM EDT
[#10]
They forgot the 1 in front of the 6.7

16.7% is more realistic, IMHO. Espc. once you fit in those who have given up looking or are under employed.

Okay, yeah sure.

A record 20% of American households, one in five, were on food stamps in 2013, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

..................and I think Economists consider "Full" employment in this Country to be around 4%.  Does anyone REALLY believe the Obama Administration's BS assertions that we are nearing "Full" employment?  Does it feel that way to you?

They must think we're really stupid if they believe we'll buy that the economy is that good.

Didn't he just say he's going to focus on "income inequality"? Then, they turn around and say their policies are working? We are never going to recover from this. The majority of the voters in this country are jealous morons that will do nothing to better themselves and blame everything on "the rich".  I don't see this trend reversing.

Bingo!!! The participation rate is the lowest it has ever been. I believe it is slightly over 62%. Last Month's drop was caused by all those dropped from EUC. That is the long term unemployed have been dropped from the unemployment number. That is why you see the drop in the participation rate. Unemployment IS NOT getting better. The long term unemployed will be making their way into the welfare numbers.

Sad state!!!!! I would hope that Washington would wake up to this at some point, but sadly I don't see that happening in time to save some of these folks from welfare, bankruptcy and foreclosure

Don't have time to look in depth so, quick answer:

How about underemployment?

There's employment... and then there's employment.   Do they track that?

1. They shouldn't have given up looking for work. There are jobs out there. It's only a matter of what you're willing to accept. Better to be working and be on partial food stamps than to be completely unemployed.

2. Nobody has ever counted those numbers. Clinton didn't. Bush didn't. Why should Obama?

Among a lot of other duties, Census compiles the data used by the Labor Department in calculating the monthly unemployment rate. This source said a data collector — officially called an enumerator — from Census’ Philadelphia office had been caught in 2010 falsifying more than 100 interviews a month.

Other allegations were that this enumerator, Julius Buckmon, wasn’t the only one playing with the surveys and that — when caught — Buckmon said the orders to falsify data came from higher-ups.

And that those higher-ups, in turn, said in private conversations that they were being protected by people even further up the chain of command.

If Buckmon wasn’t the only Census worker in Philly asked to falsify data — and false data was being entered in other offices — the US unemployment rate could have been corrupted.

Things are going exactly how 0bama and his fellow travelers expected them to go. 0bama's efforts are designed to orchestrate a crisis of financial and economic collapse, 0bman then expects we the people will clamor for a government solution that will cost us our liberty. If there is anything that isn't going to plan it is that things are taking longer than the Progressives expected.

Or those who do not even want to work and just have stuff given to them. Someone was claiming the other day I saw that the actual unemployment rate was somewhere closer to 25-30%. Those are Great Depression numbers.
