Top loader that uses a shit pot of electricity and water. No more energy efficient clothes rinsers. BTW - Maytag Neptune might be the biggest POS on earth. There is no better place on earth to get appliance advice than right here!

I am sitting here waiting for the appliance repair guys to show up(between 12 and 2:30 pm.)
Samsung front loader washing machine is 3 years old (bought 10/13/10) and the the bearing are shot. At least i bought the Lowe's extended warranty, but it has taken almost 2 and half weeks to get fix.(reported it on 22 Nov) This weekend was the first time i have been in a laundry mat since I was living in germany in 93. And they have gotten expensive. |

We have one of these hanging in the laundry room to remind her us how good we have it with modern appliances, electricity, etc http://backyardneighbor.typepad.com/backyard_neighbor/images/2008/06/11/wood_wash_board_2.jpg View Quote Great idea. WTF it's just a glorified t-shirt scrubber! (the machine, not the dikfer) |

If you have a small family, you may want to check out a used appliance store. I bought a nice old top loader for a flip house for ~$150.
Another option is to buy a floor display from Sears or a local store. Who cares if it has a scratch/dent from sitting in the store? It's almost like a conspiracy. The gubbment passes regulations, then the manufacturers lower the quality so they'll sell more washers. |

With the lowest number of repairs: Roper. Also just about the least expensive.

We just replaced a Whirlpool front loader and Whirlpool Senseon dryer (about 8 years old) with this Samsung top loader and matching drying.
Washer Dryer The front loader left our clothes with a low level mildew stink and the dryer didn't dry them and I had to wiggle wires on the control panel to get it to come on. The idea that you have to leave the door open on a washer so it won't stink is ridiculous when almost every utility room is the country is a narrow passage to a side door or the garage. I can't speak to the long term maintenance, but the new units work like a charm. A few washes and all the previous low level stink was gone from our clothes. The dryer will beep to tell me stuff is dry and I'm thinking no way, it's only been 15 minutes and it's all completely dry like it should be. |

We have some Samsung top loader thing. No impeller to rip up hands or clothes and it does a decent size wash in 50 minutes or so. Clothes come out very dry. I think the washer was $600. Not the cheapest but the lowest price base model top loader I saw was $350 to $400 with very small capacity.

I could entertain myself for hours looking through that glass top. Hope it has at least 25 HP. |

The new LG models are fantastic, Lowes and Best Buy have them on display.

Get a ringer washer. No shit, the most requested washing machine in the Idaho rural areas. A used one preferably.

This. Least efficient washer you can buy - by design. Better warranty than any other mfr. No circuit boards. I'm interested in clean clothes, not saving a nickel on my water bill. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Shit-canned Neptunes for them- one of the best things I ever did. |

Samsung or LG. Craigs list and a little patience will yield you a nice set for a very good price.

Buy the old style with an agitator. Not the new top or front loader. The new ones do not clean. Another govt screwed up mess.

So Samsung is out, Costco online has nothing. Got to have a top loading with a built in Obama!
