...I remember when Adam Sandler was funny

...I remember when you could say, "Dude, I went to a Green Day concert....", and not get your ass kicked

...I remember when if you took naughty pictures of a chick, you DIDN'T send them to the one hour photo, you had them "sent out" in case the person developing them at Walgreens recognized you, or her, as it was never someone who would "high five" you for having took them...

Your turn!

...when it took the radio about a minute after you turned it on to start playing.

...when you got a free glass with a sports team logo if you filled up with 25-cent gas.

... when we thought Elvis was screwing up Rock 'N' Roll.

I remember Chico And The Man.
Watergate. (barely)
Tony Orlando and Dawn.
When a kid could walk the streets at pretty much any hour and not have to worry about his safety.
Steel Tonka trucks that would cut you wide open if you fell on them.

I'm so old I remember when computers were only on Star Trek, or used by NASA

This was, of course, long before 'cell phones'.   And when those did come along, they were as big as a briefcase

Everybody was freaking out when it hit $1.

All the gas stations had to put a piece of tape on their signs...they had not been designed for gas being that expensive.

young punks!    how about:

gas wars resulting in 15 cents a gallon.

burger, fries and coke at McD for 50 cents.

Ed Sullivan blocking the cameras showing Elvis from the waist down

Alan Shepard being the first American in space.

Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels as The Lone Ranger and Tonto.

Jack Parr hosting the Tonight Show.

Receiving our first TV set, manufactured by Spartan Electronics.    And using the cabinet from that set as the base for the next portable one, well into the seventies.

I got a great memory:

- Steve Garvey tearing his hamstring
- Lita Ford screwing Lemmy of Motorhead
- Metallica playing the country club in Reseda
- Punkers made their clothes and would never go to Hot Topics
- you brought your old bottles into the store before you went shopping
- you ate a marathon bar while shopping
- you gave a hitch hiker a ride on Xmas cause hardly any cars on the road
- Universal Amphitheatre used to not have a roof
- the older kids used to go to Tom Sawyer Island to smoke out at disneyland
- Oh and maybe I should pick up one of those $175 winchester carbines to go with the $200 mac 90, 38 special $6, 223 $3, 7.62 x 39 $2 in 1993

- flying down the road with the windows down you knew you were going fast when the seat belt slipped from the clip and nailed you in the head

As a military brat moving from base to base at that time, turning in the phones was a big deal.   I remember my cousins all had "vanity phones" but when my mom explained how it worked, even as a kid I thought it was stupid.

...of course now I buy Direct TV receivers...that they own.

I remember this. Speaking of sisters, I remember the first time my sister and I saw Velcro / hook-and-loop fabric. Just an inch-long strip that held a pen to a rewritable message board. It was a big deal.

I was in high school before I first saw a calculator. I think that early deprivation did me some good. I know what you're thinking: my iPhone must have had an app for that. I guess I just didn't notice.
