Hurst = hearse?  That's an odd auto-correct.

I also highly doubt a person would lose their job over something like that.

Oh- and if this is supposed to count as a rant....  0/10

Reminds me of a funny story that happened at my dental office a few years back.

I had this crabby old lady that convinced her nursing home to bring her to dental appointments in an ambulance.  It was always quite the scene.  A waiting room full of people.....and this lady laying on a gurney in her pajamas.

It was always even a BIGGER scene when the took her out.  This ambulance would back up to the front door and the attendants would roll her back out of the office and load her up in front of my office.  It would freak out the patients in the waiting room who didn't see her come in !  I don't think it looked good for folks driving by either........every week an ambulance outside my office loading someone up.

I laugh at it now.

No guys, it's NOT funny.

My grandma died three months ago on the 30th. If it were my grandma they would have wheeled out in public, and my family found out about that, there would be hell to pay.

I have a family friend who is an undertaker-he actually did my grandma's service-we wouldn't trust anyone else.  I'll have to ask him about this.

I don't understand this line of thinking.

Would grandma have been embarrassed?

It was a one time screw up.  You try being the driver of the stiffwagon, and see how perfect you can be.  Hospitals take every effort to ensure discretion and dignity, but sometimes things happen.

Don't even bother to wonder what happens when you are too tall for the casket......

When the morgue pointed at it and said "Are you new?" he probably should have gotten a clue.

Honestly, it really wouldn't bother me.

My Grandmother died a few years ago in a hospice. I wasn't around when they wheeled her out to the hearse, but even if I watched them take her body bag through the front door, it wouldn't have changed a thing.

hospitals are large and confusing, no maps, crappy signs

as an EMT you get dispatched to a hospital you've never been to and you have to guess where to park, how to get in and search for the proper location of your patient

Some old volunteer lady bitched at us for bringing a live, sleeping patient through the lobby because some people might "not be used to seeing really sick people." Again she was just sleeping and IT'S A FUCKING HOSPITAL. Who do you think goes there? Healthy people?

My college roommate worked as a night pickup man for the local mortuary. One of the local hospitals had the morgue in  the basement and could be very quiet and spooky. Well, one day he gets a call about 3AM. When he arrives at the hospital, he is given an escort to the morgue as was hospital policy. I don't remember what the escort did at the hospital, just that she was young and had never been to the morgue before. Not a b ig deal as he'd been there many times.

She opened the door to the morgue for him and the body was on a gurney in the middle of the room. My roommate has his own gurney to put the body on. His method of transfer involved sitting the body up and laying it down on the mortuary's gurney, then repeating with the feet. This method apparently can cause the lungs to expel air which sometimes makes a sound like a soft moan. Anyway, the body did this and the next thing my roommate heard was the girl running down the hallway to get out of there.

I wouldn't doubt he was BS'ing me, but it was funny when he told it

I've learned to express myself in such a way that someone else will finish the thought that would otherwise get my account locked if I had finished saying it Myself.  But yeah, you pretty much hit it on the head.  No sense in breaking your body trying to dispose of someone who couldn't be bothered to take care of theirs.
