I just did 18. How about you? If I switched my grip to palms back I could have done 10 more.
UPDATE: Ok, that was yesterday, but today fiirst I did 16 in boots, uniform, then did 3 more with a large ruck with 5 gallons of water and some other gear. I think the ruck was 60 pounds, making my effective weight 230. (160 plus 10 pounds uniform/boots plus 60 pound ruck) This was done for fun, but also because someone asked about it and got my interest up.....I challenge you guys to try it! |
not sure, but i can run 5 miles straight in 40 mins and throw up only once.
The average for GD will probably be around .5 with a chair to help.
I did 12 yesterday in the gym. |
I did 9 this morning at the gym. I can lift weights all damn day, but pull ups kill me.
I think I got 15 last week. I've got a pullup bar at the house so I do quite a few pullups
The last time I tried I got 14, but I weigh about 50 lbs. more than I did when I could do 20+. Pushing weights filled me out a bit. Upper body has always been my (retard) strength and I can max push-ups on the PT test without ever doing any. Always been like that. Running? I have to do a LOT of that to stay in the 90% range for age group.
Yeah, 1/2 sounds about right. But what do you want? I weigh 350 pounds!
So thats like 10 regular size people pull ups, right? |
20 dead hangs pull-ups here. I can do over 30 kipping pull-ups.
I broke my academy record when I was there with 41. Last time I tried to max them out unweighted, I did about 20 or so. I'm a lot heavier now, a lot stronger too, but a lot heavier than I was back then (1999). I was about 165 lbs. when I was able to do 40 plus, I'm now about 200-205.
I dunno, lets see. I'll be right back.........
23 just now. Not bad for a 33 y/o with a messed up hip/elbow/ankle/neck. |
I can usually eak out 8-10 when I'm this out of shape. Pulls have always been my nemesis though. Something about the mechanics of the move coupled with shoulder problems. Never been able to really grease that groove too well.
10-12 easily. I did 15 a couple months back when I was doing them everyday. Wide grip palms away from you.
Only around 7.
I am kind of a big guy and even though I have good upper body strength, they are definitely harder for me than someone with a thinner build. |
I did 1 from a dead hang the other day...
But that is an improvment from 6 months ago when i could do none... I have lost about 30 lbs in the past year, need to loos about 20 more. |

No idea. Probably none. Is it a bad thing that I don't care? Depends on how badly you want to be liked by a bunch of people on a mostly anonymous internet forum from around the world....... |
7 today, each from full dead hang, steady consistent pull..Not bad for an old guy,but ass is definately kicked from it.

Do fractions count? This is GD - round up to the nearest whole number and multiply by the number of Victoria Secret models you currently date. |

Quoted: Between 14 and 17 depending on the day. And I'm 65 years old. Your a stud! I can do 15-17 and I'm 45. |

12-14 dead hang, palms facing away. I envy those that are doing 20+ in one set.
I'm curious as to the height and weight of you guys doing this.
I can bench, squat, and dead lift a shit ton of weight, I can do cardio until the cows come home, but freaking pull ups just kick my ass. CVN

When I was in HS, I could do 15. Today many kids can't do any, which is illustrates how weak they are. |
I do sets of 20 on a hang board several times a week.
Like so.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iik-u2UNr-w And some rope work like this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fxo1ZVbr58k |

31 y.o., 183 lbs. Did 21 palms facing me (underhand) dead-hang pullups yesterday; haven't tried to do overhand in a while, but I typically do about 5 less than my max underhand.
record was 17.
i never let my abilities drop below the 10 mark |

I can do about 15 with palms in. I tested myself recently and did 6 with 50 lbs. of gear and a rifle hanging off of my chest. Pullups are my weakest exercise by far, but I do them anyway. I think having long arms makes it harder. I have an 84" reach. |

15 with IOTV ammo and rifle slung around me. Not sure how many unencumbered I stop at 25.
Palms outboard. 21.
37 y/o, 5'11", 214lbs. No longer-so-lean-and-not-so-mean-oldass-Marine. And please...no body bring up run times. |
At 6'6" 240 I can't do a single one. I'm a big strong guy, but that's a lot of weight to move that distance from a dead hang.
Much respect for the guy who is 6'4" and doing 6 of them with 50lbs. of gear on.

I only test myself to max on my birthday. Last birthday I did 14. I'm 5'10", weigh 220 and I'm 55. I like working pullups and overhead pressing together. |
Hell, I haven't done pull ups since I was in high school.
I'm absolutely positive I can do at least 1. Anything beyond that is sheer speculation. |
