Red fox have white tipped tails.
Gray fox have dark tipped tails. Gray fox is what you have there. |

Gray Fox. I've killed hundreds calling/trapping so take it to the bank that is what it is. Looks like a healthy one. Boy what a waste of a pelt that's not even prime yet.

When dealing with destructive varmits like crows, groundhogs and coyotes, yes. Most states are much more restrictive of furbearers like fox & martins. In LA, Foxes may only be taken is season by trapping. Season closes in the end of spring. |
