No one was burning korans or dissing Islam before 9/11.  The muslims decided to kill 3000 of us anyway.
So the threats about terrorism sparked by desecrating books doesn't really perturb me.  Defend and help Muslims in Bosnia and Afghanistan and they'll still hate you.

What is it that you people simply do not understand?  The war we are in is a running PR battle between us and the Taliban trying to gather the support of the local Afghan populace.  Whoever gains the support of the people will win this fight.  Shit like this only sets us back farther and farther.   If you are so interested in the validity of the men who died here you would not advocate something that would set us back.

We are doing plenty of fighting, who the fuck are you to say we aren't?  





A conventional conflict cannot be waged against an enemy who has no conventional army. That does not mean we are not fighting, it only means the tactics have to be changed to meet the threat.  



I have lost friends in the past week to this fighting that you seem to think is not happening.  In the past couple months I have seen firefights, ambushes initiated by us, and a half dozen airstrikes danger close to me.  Some of you have no fucking clue.

I do appreciate what you are saying.  This is exactly what Petreaus is saying.  

However, playing nice and just trying to get along with these guys only delays a successful conclusion to this WAR.  Our goal should be eliminating the threat.  Playing nice with these guy will prolong the war and delay the outcome into the unforseable future.  This is what they want.  They have already broken our bank of resources.  This thing will go on forever until we eliminate this threat to our security or beat thier asses so far into the ground they will beg for us to stop.  

So are you saying that we should limit our freedom of speech?

The politicians and press have always been the issue when we are fighting...NOT the troops.
We know the troops are fighting...many of us here have fought before.  Many of us have lost friends to the fights also...from the Marine Corp barracks in Beirut, to terror attacks, to Iraq, Afghanistan, and various other places around the world.  Many of us understand what muslims are doing....it is all about THEIR religion....and dominance over all other religions / cultures.
