Just some minor stuff. Knocked down some highlights, noise reduction,  tonal contrast, Nik output detail processing,  and brought the warmth up a tad. Didn't even crop it. Sometimes you just get lucky with great shots right out of the camera.

Note to self: when in a group of 5-6 great photographers,  sometimes you need to look in a different direction. Everyone else was watching the flying, but I saw this perfect shot...

I'd like to do this again sometime.  I had a rather high ISO and relatively short shutter speed of 5 seconds.  Would lowering the ISO and making the shutter longer make the image sharper around the lights?

You're using the 35mm prime, that's a pretty sharp lens.  I'd look more into dot-tuning your focus, or making sure you're actually focused.  I'd also open up that aperture; you shot that at f/16.  USE that 1.8 the lens has!!  f/16 might be getting into diffraction territory.

Using a lower ISO is going to help more with noise than anything else.

I didn't know they had a flying version of the Curtiss pusher. I may have to drop in.

You definitely do. This is the last on-site bog flying event for the year. Besides random things flying for airshows elsewhere or check rides they don't have any airshows planned until May. It's a great place to go, even just to tour the hangars, though!

I got to watch a pair of them go full on afterburner about 10 feet off the deck into a near vertical climb while popping flares in the middle of the night at the airfield I worked on in Iraq.

I haven't posted in a while, been on the road quite a bit these past couple months.

Sadly the fires are still burning / smoldering in West Glacier.  Hopefully this week's precipitation helps put them out for good.

Not my usual stuff, but I swung through this local distillery yesterday and had my socks blown off.  Plus the name and bottle gave me photo ideas for once hard winter sets in.

Rented a lens for an event on Saturday. 85mm f/1.2. Auto focus is stupid slow but the lens is still amazing.

To my eyes that pic looks soft all over. The background is obliterated though, that's true enough. If you're happy I'm happy

Your not entirely wrong on the softness. I had asked a friend about it and he said its the bokeh bleeding through due to focus and and the distance away I was.

Yeah, the DoF can get too narrow and you lose definition on your subject. Sometimes, I've actually had to back off on the aperture to maintain focus.
