Nothing super fancy. Just something a rescued from water/smoke exposure.
I originally had it polished but the novelty wore off. Decided to keep it looking as is.

Thinking of getting wood grips. But can't justify 50 dollars for a couple pieces of walnut.

This image is just amazing on so many different levels.

A show stopper.

Partially is for the model 10 (my personal favourite of the entire S&W history) but then, the framing and contents of the image. Lightning. Et cetera. Superb.

So do I (enjoyment).

You inspired into re-purchasing a model 10 yesterday; went onto Gunbroker and just did it.

Used to own a few S&Ws when in Italy, where this image was taken; when I moved "back" to the US a year ago, had to sell everything there (gun related) and I am repurchasing here. Had no Model 10.

Now, I do.

Older image (my "new to me" model 10 one is incoming):

This one is really one of my most intimate dreams.
Indiana Jones' true twin sister Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector in .45ACP.

I found it at a local pawn shop for relatively cheap, the barrel had been cut down to about 4 inches already years ago (just like the movie ones).

Enjoy (if you dig movie guns that is)

It looks more like 3.5" but it might be the N frame making it look that way to me.  IDK.

That thing is downright gorgeous though.  Regardless of if it's an Indiana Jones gun or not.

You're correct on both accounts: 3 and 5/8 inches to be exact (good eye).

And I kinda even like it more with that length!

But it's just that it's gorgeous.

And I confess I like them HEs more with shorter barrels around the 4 inches than the longer, standard barrels of yesteryear!

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if the exact length of the cut had been calculated just for that.

I was the same way.  I still think it would look awesome without the bottom rail and the entire barrel slabbed like the first half of it but that's just me and I like it!

I've looked at this gun and it's almost twin the S&W 327 TRR8 and I can't figure out what's different.  I even compared them on the S&W website and every single thing on them is exactly the same except the model designation.  Why would they offer two guns that are exactly the same except the name? There's gotta be something different.

I believe all the 1917s had the side markings close to the frame, hence them not looking out of place on a chop job. On the top and bottom of the barrel your gonna lose markings though.

Isn't it better with the shorter barrel?

I think it is. You know, it is more balanced, visually. A matter of sizes, really (mass of the body of the handgun - if the barrel is too long as it usually was on these, I think it makes them look thinner, smaller etc.)

Well, to be honest with you, I think the 5.5" 1917 is like THE revolver of all revolvers.  OR a 4" K frame. (Victory)   For service sized revolvers.  However, when it comes to personal protection   A 3" K frame and your creation here are pretty darn good when it comes to looks and from what I understand, utility.  I don't really like the goofy 3.5" M-27   or was it a 28, that is so famous.   That one that Patton supposedly wore.  The underlug practically all the way makes it look wonky to me.   So yeah, this thing you got here, that barrel length, it looks perfect and it looks like it would FEEL perfect too.  Although having said that, I've never got to shoot a .45 revolver.

Anyways...  How does she shoot?

Like a beast. It shoots like a beast. Even too much for me.

I do have a few revolvers (I am re-posting also my beloved model 10 in 38sp, which is very shootable as you know) and the bigger calibers are harder to handle for me. Especially with that kind of grip shape (many do change to more modern grips but that's when I don't like those revolvers anymore - to me it's gotta stay old time classics).

I can definitely feel the recoil with that small of a handgrip you know. Not my thing, I am happy to have other .45ACP in semiauto that feel more manageable (my favorite of all times is my HK45C and HK45, for example).

That being said, I just love desperately both this monster and the model 10!

I just found an older image of another 1917 I own - this one is in Italy (where I used to live).
It has that longer barrel. I truly prefer the shorter, cut barrel one I have now.

Beauties both of them!!!!

Would a tyler t grip help the grip on the .45's?  They still look classic to me and don't hurt the looks of the gun.  I do think they look better without them, but it's not that big of a detractor.....  And fills the hand up so much better.

The difference is that the TRR8 bottom rail is detacheable, the cutout for the ejector rod goes all the way through, and the front sight bead is gold, instead of the white dot on the R8.
I have the R8 as well, awesome gun.

Undoubtedly it would make it better, I agree with you and it's the only grip I'd use if I really was into shooting them much (I am not; I collect them more than shoot them - just once in a while!)
